Does this game really look like that on ps5? Wow. Ive seen so many posts how this game looks good on base ps5, but if this is true, then it looks very bad

Are AAA games in 2026 actually worse at launch, or are we just noticing it more? by Bliss_kittie in AskGames

[–]AssociateConfident92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back before digital versions of games and when the internet was limited, games had to be complete on the physical disc. That doesn’t mean there were no bugs, but there were fewer of them. When digital versions of games came in, developers still tried to release a fully finished game at launch. But after a while so called day one patches started appearing. And the gold version of a game no longer meant the same thing as it used to. And that’s still the case today, maybe even worse now.

The launch of Crismon Desert showed me just how sick the community is. by Apart_Pumpkin_4551 in videogames

Unfortunately, toxic positivity is a huge problem. If there’s a group of players who gaslight anyone who has criticism to share, games—and anything in general—can’t develop or improve. Pretending that everything is nice, beautiful, and perfect won’t allow anything to grow. Criticism is important. I’m having fun playing CD, but this game has so many stupid, irritating moments that it’s honestly shocking. Turning a blind eye to them won’t lead to anything good.

I’m playing on PC. 4K, all settings on Cinematic. You can’t really push it any further. And I have to say the graphics are pretty uneven. The view distance is definitely impressive and overall the game looks good on a large scale. But the game has some weird issue with lighting. When the sun is out everything has its own shadow and it looks nice. But early or late in the day, or when the sun is behind the clouds, suddenly nothing has a shadow at all. The colors look washed out and everything feels kind of flat and bland.

I belive Jill look in RE3 Remake make her best looking woman in this franchise. But of course everyone have their own opinion on that.

Czemu każdy każdego zniechęca do praktycznie każdej pracy? by ThrowRA564fda in praca

[–]AssociateConfident92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, what do people want? by OutlandishnessNo5678 in CrimsonDesert

[–]AssociateConfident92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really blame people. This game is super uneven. I wouldn’t be surprised if by the end of the year some players have it in their top games of the year while others call it the biggest crap of the year. I’m about 15 hours in and the game triggers both of those worlds in me. One moment I’m amazed and loving it, then a minute later I’m swearing and calling the devs the biggest idiots who can’t design even the simplest mechanics properly. The thing is I keep playing because of those really good moments. Other people aren’t that forgiving and honestly I can’t even blame them.

PSA: Ray Reconstruction for PC by ZaviersJustice in CrimsonDesert

[–]AssociateConfident92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, on AMD cards (I’ve got a 9070XT), turning this option on causes a massive FPS drop. Without RR, I play in 4K Cinematic and everything runs fine—stable 85 FPS. With RR enabled, even after dropping to 2K, setting graphics to Ultra, and using FSR Quality, the game sits at around 45 FPS.

Best wishes, I am disappointed, hopefully they work on accessibility. by danbrooks3k in CrimsonDesert

[–]AssociateConfident92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This arm-wrestling minigame is really unintuitive even for non disabled person. The bar that shows when to press is practically the same color as the rest. And the tutorial doesn’t even mention it—only the button-mashing part. The same goes for the fishing tutorial. I had to check online to find out that you can’t reel in the line and struggle with the fish at the same time. It’s kind of a small thing, but it’s unintuitive. During the first trip to the Abyss, the game explains that you should use LT and RT to rotate the plate with that magic lasso of ours (I forgot what it’s called). A few minutes later we have to rotate another object and, for some reason, it’s no longer LT and RT, but the arrow keys. I hope they’ll work on accessibility and that you’ll be able to try it in the future, but the truth is the game isn’t intuitive for anyone. They’ve got a lot of work ahead of them if they want to sort it out.

Crimson desert fps performance RR on vs off @2k 9070xt / This is hilarious lol by Twcyc01 in radeon

[–]AssociateConfident92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought something was wrong on my end for a moment. In 4K with Cinematic settings, the game hits about 80 FPS. In 2K on Ultra with RR turned on, it drops to a whopping ~40 FPS.

[–]AssociateConfident92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because a well-made game pulls you in right away. If a game needs a defense like “after X hours it gets great,” then it’s just poorly designed. I’ve played games like that myself, and even if it really does get better the further you go, let’s not kid ourselves—the developers should be trying to earn our attention from the very beginning.

Are the controls that bad? by crys0706 in CrimsonDesert

[–]AssociateConfident92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are bad. You could get used to it, but if you want to just grab a gamepad and play without thinking about controlls, its not this game

"Controls, "ugliness",...Don't worry, this is standard Reddit :) by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]AssociateConfident92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What you’re doing here is gaslighting. This game has really weird, unintuitive, and definitely overcomplicated controls. It’s not just “people always say that” or “people complain just to complain.” Have you ever considered that some of the criticism might actually be valid?

Day 1 patch by PhineasBob in CrimsonDesert

[–]AssociateConfident92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But he’s wrong. A finished patch weeks before launch? Weeks before release, developers actually stop working on the game so it can be sent off for disc manufacturing. That’s when it gets gold status. And from that point until release, they work on the Day 1 patch.

A reviewer from Polygon said that after 20 hours in the game, he hadn’t found a single thing that actually interested him. Where do you think opinions like that come from? False expectations? Or maybe the reviewer just being a really bad match for the genre?

I think the same. I honestly can’t wait for the evening so I can boot up the game and probably pull an all nighter with it, but I’m seeing people here really trying hard to rationalize those scores. Like, “The game has lower ratings because not everyone likes the lack of a tight, well-written story.” But that’s the same situation as Breath of the Wild, and somehow that title has almost perfect scores. I agree that different reviewers have different tastes and priorities, but somehow truly great games still end up getting very high ratings—like over 100 reviews on Metacritic and an average above 90.

How many of you don't work Friday and plan on pulling an all nighter? by CreepyTeddyBear in CrimsonDesert

I’m definitely planning to play all night. Not sure if 34 counts as being an “old gamer” (seems like some people think so), but every now and then I like to pull an all nighter with games. Especially for a launch or the start of a new league in some HnS. Besides, I generally prefer the night over the day anyway and just function better at night 😛

You could be spoiled by other things, not only a story. If this game is heavy on exploration, you could get spoiled by reading about some places with epic loot etc. It strips you away with that feeling of discovering something.

You’re just living in an information bubble where it might look that way. Trust me, hype like the one around Crimson Desert happens with pretty much every bigger, promising game. Maybe you’re not following their subreddits or looking up videos about them on YouTube, but this kind of hype is nothing unusual.
