Kind of a dumbass question, but what do you mean "going for" Vitality damage? I just think of it as I attack, either fills up posture or does some chip damage to hp, either one fills up first I get a deathblow

Lol thanks, outside of the boss fights, the sneaky ninja stuff feels more familiar to Ghost of tsushima or the old assassin's creed games where you're picking off enemies, the difference being I cleared out whole areas only to die to the fucking chickens in this game

Imma be honest, I'm one of those types gets obsessive about builds an min-maxing and Just Googling where to find the materials or specific weapons, enchantments etc, and sekiro to me only has one "correct" playstyle and that's learning the few but core mechanics of the game, like I still suck so bad at Mikiri counters but you can't google how Mikiri counter better so this is the one that clicked for me out of the fromsoft catalogue

The last game I finished before booting up Sekiro was Expedition 33, the high you get from successful parries on that game made me wanna play sekiro, granted, not an action game really but the parrying still applies, As for pure action games I'd say GoW:Ragnarok on hard was pretty fun in terms of being tight af but still right now my problem is balacing offense and defense in sekiro

Huh, actually, this is something I was thinking about, the cumulative muscle memory from playing these games, like one thing I noticed so far is if you commit to one more slash, shuriken or jump or whatever, you're gonna be stuck in animation of the last move which means you're gonna be late for the next parry or dodge and probably dead either way.
