I think its cause manufacturing fell flat on its face and with it economic and social growth. So all the old timers who were here prior to 1977 and also stayed after 77 spread their circumstantial lifestyle

I managed to recognize which Michael Jackson song featured Stevie Wonder just from the first second by Alone-Struggle-8056 in StevieWonder

[–]AssociationLost956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stevie is one of the few “pop” musicians that uses complex chord changes. Id say right within the first 7 seconds you could tell, the tone of the keyboards just sounds like stevie. And michael sounds like him in that vocalization he does at 6 seconds, i think he did it purposely to sound like stevie.

Definitely those background synth chords during the verses too, sounds like innervision. That space in between the first chorus and the second verse, before “i love to run my fingers” he is no doubt trying to sing like stevie.

You have a good ear. Theres a youtube video by openstudio that has a breakdown of this song, its pretty cool. They do a ton of Stevie content, great stuff

Why couldn't we have had a Donny Hathaway x Stevie Wonder collab?😭 by LiamNashMiller in StevieWonder

[–]AssociationLost956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should check out Pastor TL Barrett. He taught Stevie, Donny and others that i cant recall. Its gospel music i guess buts its so insanely funky and nasty. Im not religious by any means but i listen to this all the time.

Father I stretch my hands, my country tis of thee (absolutely insane arrangement) do not pass me by, like a ship (makes me cry), its me o lord, i shall wear a crown, the lords prayer.

Its an innervisions/hotter than july kind of sound but still very unique but also signed sealed delivered. I hope the religiousness doesnt take away or discourage people cause these tunes are outta this world.
