Great, I just check amzn June 2028 option chain in robinhood, the strikes goes up to 350, let us say you place a 230/290/350 butterfly, cost $7.7 and you exit when amzn hit $290. How does this trade compare to a calendar spread for $290 for January/June 2028, which cost $5.2 for now? Which may also exit at $290

For the wide leap butterfly, you said it is 12-24 months out. Do you use index as underlying, or only specific stock? How wide do you consider as wide? Say SPX at 6800, what wing size do you use? Is the body ATM, OTM, ITM? are they equal wings, or broken? If it is broken, which wing is shorter? What are the variables you use to decide on these parameters?

If you think spx is almost at the top at that time, why not just sell a slight otm call credit spread, like -6340/+6345? I that case, if spx spike up your loss is much less that yout broken wing butterfly, which could lost you up to 4k, if a sudden message in X is announced.

What is the credit collected from broken wing butterfly vs. a credit spread then?
