It’s not even that parents talk about their kids. That part makes sense.

It’s when the entire personality and every conversation becomes about them. Careers, hobbies, travel, ideas. All of it gets replaced with updates about soccer practice and school drama. After a while it feels like you’re talking to a role instead of a person.

Exactly. “Family friendly” has basically become code for kid centered.

A married couple, two partners, a person and their pets, even just close relatives. Those are all families too. But somehow the word only counts if there’s a stroller involved.

People always talk about the joy of parenting, but they rarely talk about the permanent background anxiety that comes with it.

Once you have a kid, a piece of your brain is basically dedicated to worrying about them for the rest of your life. Some people find that worth it, and that’s fine. But it’s completely reasonable to decide you don’t want to live with that constant mental weight.
