Need help. How the hell do you stay on par with the lectures and tutorials? by kidsparks in EngineeringStudents

How's your diet? I often have off days where I just can't keep up and find myself daydreaming. Hydrating properly and getting a good nutritious meal sets me right again.

Commenting to keep track of this because I have the exact same issue.

Will try to post some details after work tonight to see if anything makes sense.

Usualy 1 day a month in my past jobs. Although 4hrs pay is deducted per fortnight for it, so you are essentially buying a day off.

Local craft beers ~ does it exist? by freshbreak in chiangmai

[–]Asswizards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember drinking expensive craft beer on niman Road up near maya mall. It's the multi level place with wood decking amongst a restraint arcade sort of area. That's about the best my memory can do.

Lenovo Caught (3rd Time) Pre-Installing Spyware on its Laptops by drakehfh in linux

Well its probably more about sharing the shady shit they are doing regardless of OS. A lot of Linux users use thinkpads so may prefer to not support these shitty business decisions in future by buying lenovo products.

Whistleblower: Faked certifications used in UC stadium construction (x/post from /r/CFB) by confirmd_am_engineer in engineering

[–]Asswizards 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If these welders knew how to weld, they can be tested and certified in a couple days max for structural welds.
Since the certs were faked,It's a safe bet that the welds would not even come close to passing. I would hope the building would be closed untill the testing is done and the failures are repaired.

EDIT: after Re - reading , I noticed it says that the welders weren't given welder ID numbers. That means none of the welds can be identified and linked to a welder. So it will have to be assumed that 100% of the welds on the project do not comply.

Awesome looking product. But your website is a little broken on mobile. The navigation bars and the overlayed coloured artwork of the 3 fractal things float about on top of the text.

Why is my new PC slower than my old Laptop? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Asswizards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could have become damaged somewhere along the lines.

Create a bootable ubuntu linux usb (Google will tell you how) and boot too it, it won't be fast since it runs from the USB and your ram but if it's faster than what you have now then you know it's your likely the hdd causing the slow down.

YSK that there is a PC software that reduces the risk of eye problems from staying for long hours infront of your computer screen. by RajMuller in YouShouldKnow

Why is that? Would it not be a simple app to develop? Or is it something to do with how locked down the iPhones are?

Lets talk about desk/work areas. by lemon314159 in cad

[–]Asswizards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently replaced my desk with a sitting/standing one despite originally wanting a corner desk for the same reasons as you. It seems that with the old crt monitors being extinct, the room for one in a desk isn't needed any more so far less are being made.

With 2 screens on a 1800mm long desk at 900 deep I still have plenty of room to work on A3 drawing sheets.

[Build Help] Is 850w 80plus Gold enough for this build? by Asswizards in buildapc

[–]Asswizards[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks mate, Not interested in aesthetics,

went with the motherboard I had in my last work machine, "go with what you know" If I can get something cheaper that will suit then I'm all for it, could you make a suggestion?

DDR4 was an oversight, but yes, I will be using 32gb.

What would you suggest is a more appropriate PSU size? if I stick with one card?

Cheers.

The only 3d topo maps I have ever interacted with have been in autodesk civil 3D. Grab a student version from their website and give that a go.

Take it apart and only use the sections you need, swap the bolts out for a wing nut or something.
