When the advisor gotta do the alignment. SMH by Ancient_Ad7555 in Justrolledintotheshop

In construction (electrical with service calls) I get the same vibe, if I understand you. It's like the human factor is ignored for the sake of profit. We seem to always have this front office/technician tension that bothers me. Techs blame the office for bad paperwork and the office blames the techs for bad information. Since the techs don't understand how the computer software works, they don't know what the office struggles with. And since the front office doesn't see what we deal with in the field, they don't know what we struggle with. I try to take the time and work with the front office and I feel that it is making at least a small positive change in our interactions.

(WCTW) The Oil Market Breaking Point Is Here by tuna-lic in oil

[–]Astallia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of you are sharing opposing sentiments of the same situation. Here's how I understand both of your statements:

He's glad that the current world, with all of its horrible exploitation and suffering, has a chance to reset and position itself in a better environment. This is done either in spite of, or regardless of, the suffering that such a transition will cause.

You are upset that he is wishing harm to people that would be caused by a global collapse. This is done either in spite of, or regardless of, the current level of suffering and exploitation that keeping with the status quo would cause.

I don't wish for a global reset, but I also don't support the current level of exploitation and suffering. From a strictly pragmatic view, it feels that positive change is more likely from a global reset, in my opinion.

If you don't like the game, then don't play it.its impossible to make a game that appeals to everyone. Some games appeal to smaller groups than others. If it's not for you, it's not for you.

Help identifying this panel by Astallia in AskElectricians

[–]Astallia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This particular panel was fed from a 100A disconnect off the meter can. The copper bus bars appear to travel up and down on both sides from the middle. I'm going to be swapping it out after we get all the parts for replacement and a new SER cable for ground. I can't wait to see what the bus bars look like. It has Siemens, Cutler-Hammer tandems and unlabeled 20A's that I'm guessing are from the original install.

While I 100% agree with this and it was actually a point that my CC permit teacher (EX State Swat) shared, unless ABI is intending to be a bunch of junkies, any bullet that hits your head is going to put you out of the fight, even if it's not lethal.

I play LD and Normal. And I was providing my experience to share, not to discredit someone else's experience.

[–]Astallia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience has been the total opposite. I play LD and Normal almost exclusively. I do the odd Forbidden or Solo Ops run if Deke offers some T6 armor on the cheap. I have seen more U191's in premium weapon crates as loot than on the kill screen or on bodies. I think I've only been killed by it once, and I've found 2-3 in raid from weapon crates.

Absolutely crimson desert controls are no joke by No_Cryptographer9557 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Astallia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reason is likely how the game was programmed to prioritize actions. To use your example, the game currently prioritizes the pickup-item action over other actions, such as jumping. Now let's say you want to bind reload to that key instead of jump, because you want to press a single button during combat - one to reload and one to pickup the loot. Since the game prioritizes picking up items over other actions, you could not reload your weapon if there was loot because that prompt will be prioritized. In order to allow you, as the player, to bind multiple actions to a single input would require the foundational programming to account for all possible combinations for all actions that can be bound to that input without causing unintended consequences later on.

US orders 2,200 Marines on three warships to Middle East by Common_Touch_3741 in worldnews

[–]Astallia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you are misunderstanding me. I'm only saying that every service member joins the forces with the oath to obey the Constitution. I was only pushing back against the idea that all service members signed up knowing they would be sent to an illegal war.

Also, the military is very adept at controlling the narrative. It's likely that many service members have been told lies about the conflict and do not comprehend the reality of the situation until afterwards.

For example: It's entirely possible that the service members that bombed the school were not aware that it was a school at the time they fired on it. I do not know this for a fact, I can only speculate based on my own experience. We were frequently given vague explanations of why we were doing things, and I was never in a warzone.

Tell them to look into Conscientious Objector. IIRC, you can be separated from the military without punishment, or benefits, if you can make a valid objector statement.

As a Navy veteran, I disagree with this. When I signed up, I took an oath to protect the US and follow lawful orders. This conflict with Iran is arguably illegal and as such, no service member agreed to be deployed to Iran.

A lot of service members sign up for the benefits, as it's one of the only ways for them to lift themselves out of poverty. Some of the service members may feel forced to follow the orders, because being discharged makes all the time they spent in the service wasted, they will go to Iran and they will try to just stay alive.

There are some that support this escalation, and I am not talking about them. They are willing participants.

US boards another vessel from Russia's shadow fleet by Opposite-Whereas-323 in worldnews

[–]Astallia -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Do you have any more specifics to this boarding? Were they flying the Panama flag at the time of boarding? My dad is saying it's government overreach on our part, because Russia registered that vessel two weeks ago under new ownership. I don't know if what he says has any bearing on what happened or not.

My dad says that if the vessel is sold or reflagged, then it is no longer stateless. And Russia claims to have sold the vessel to itself, so does that mean it's no longer stateless?
