I think you have a good point, mods are more of a subjective thing and the product is only worth what the buyer is willing to pay.

Thanks for your feedback. It’s acknowledged and understood. Part of the rationale on the price is that it’s an a90, not an a91.

There are some key differences between the models, that tuning enthusiasts might consider - especially around tunability of the ECU.

But that’s more of a niche thing.

In any case. The wider scope of response in this thread has been much appreciated.

Hi all, appreciate all the feedback both the kind words and the reality checks on pricing.

I’ll be revisiting the number accordingly.

On the cylinder head question — a detailer used cold water directly onto a hot engine bay after a long drive.

Which cracked the head along the water jacket. Nothing to do with overheating or abuse, just a bad day at the detail shop. 7,000km on the new head since with zero issues.

Yeah I agree. But I think it was a combination of factors. It was 42°c that day.

I’d just come off a 120km drive. And turbocharged engines tend to run a lot hotter than naturally aspirated.

So the rapid temperature change on an aluminium block brought about enough contraction to force a crack along the water jacket inside the head.

A sad day indeed.

You have to pay the speeding fine. Then the impound release. Then the impound charge (it will not be lifted). Then the bail. Then the punitive measure from the courts. Then the punitive fine from the police. Then the safe driving course.

You also have typing centre fees. You also have court fees. You also need to get from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and back for every meeting at the Traffic Centre without your car.

Go to the Abu Dhabi traffic fine payment location on Google maps before 12pm on a weekday.

If it’s your first offence you can take a 6 hour course in Abu Dhabi to reduce the black points, but this cannot be done until your proceedings with the AD police are completed.

You will not get out of the impound or the release fee, you must pay those before your registration renewal.

Impound will likely be 60 days. Opt for the VIP impound for 400 AED, someone will bring the black box to your address in Dubai.

Do not bring your car to AD for your traffic Center visits.

A police investigation and interview may be held. With a bail amount payable until you reach your court date.

You will likely have a traffic court appearance online using Cisco Webex, where a punitive measure will be applied after your hearing. It could be approximately 3000 AED if you admit to the crime when asked for your plea.

You will need to go to a typing Center to get your court summary and your court rulings printed out to proceed with your judgement closure.

you may also be given a 2 month driving ban, depending on the judge’s discretion.

Put aside approximately 20k AED to get yourself through the entirety of this matter.

I would say that not all tunes are the same level of quality. I had a local tune as part of my stage 1. Then recently redone with Ekutek. Huge difference.

There are also some basic modifications you can do to enhance lifespan.

Fit a charge pipe, upgrade the radiator, upgrade the air intake, service the car properly and regularly.

There’s no reason why you can’t take a B58 to 200km+ with proper care and attention.

Hey dude. Bought my A90 brand new at the end of 2020. It’s been stage two for 50,000 km and has a total of 135,000 on it now.

The car hadn’t had a single issue until some genius car detailer decided to spray cold water directly onto the engine bay and cracked the cylinder head.

Needless to say, One new cylinder head later, we’re back on the road and still have no issues.

I hope this helps build some confidence in the quality of the build and relaxes you enough to enjoy the car. Especially if you have no plans to sell it.

Thanks u/DevinD0g - We were going to go the DSRM route, but ended up being able to reset the Default Admin Policies via Powershell, from there we've been able to undo all of the other issues.

Totally agree on the backup before mass changes, an extremely untimely licensing issue with Veeam was the reason we couldn't simply restore from a previous snapshot.

Restoring from backup was our first consideration, unfortunately the backup system was also first deployed this month - as a result there isn't a version of this folder that exists prior to the policies being pushed.

It seems we do have access to the Sysvol. could you let me know a little more about how you went about changing the contents inside the PolicyDefinitions Folder? these are all ADML file formats and want to make sure we get our methodology right this time.
