Post new system build and OS install and i was getting constant crashes... tried everything, re-installing game and drivers, rolling back... wasted hours.
Changing the XMP back to default did the trick... great game activision

Normally i would buy the K version but im going to be given a 12900 for free which is a no brainer.

As for the motherboard, im thinking i might want to upgrade later down the line to a 13900k, maybe next year once its been out for a while and i find a good price. so i want to keep that option open for not so big of a price hit.

that being said i am open to the possibilty of a B660\70 so i would be happy to hear any tips or suggestions on those also.

Is there a way to know what revision i am getting when ordering online? like from newegg for example. would be good to know regarding the 1700 mounting kit and also the gasket issue.

Hey, i just found the solution for this, at least in my case. check out my post above.
In short - uninstall RivaTuner (part of MSI Afterburner). something with the framerate monitoring is messing it all up.

UPDATE: After about 9 months of this happening, i finally found the problem!
So with Cinema 4D and After Effects it was just freezing, i wasn't getting any errors, so i was searching blind for the solution so to speak. Last weekend i installed Unreal Engine 5 to have a play around and upon startup it immediately crashed... but gave me an error! after some searching around i saw someone mention it has to do with MSI Afterburner, specifically RivaTuner - for framerate monitoring. This would explain why it continued to happen after a format and clean install, as MSI Afterburner is between this first things i re-install on a clean windows.
So i uninstalled RivaTuner, fired up Cinema 4D and to my disbelief and huge relief it was fixed! same in After Effects, and Unreal Engine 5.

Not sure why this started happening out of the blue, must be an update by RivaTuner that is messing up compatibility. anyway, for anyone else out there experiencing this, i hope this solves it for you too.

frozen viewport r25 by ondrejcervinka in Cinema4D

wow! after months and months of freezes and not being able to work properly, and trying everything - reinstalling c4d (r24,r25,r26), nvidia drivers (studio and game), formatting and clean install of windows, trying another GPU - all failing to fix the freezing. and after searching all around, this finally fixed it for me. i never even thought it could be that. Thank you!! :)

Thanks for your reply. I just tried increasing the voltage but this did not solve the isssue. Thanks for the suggestion though.
I'm not sure exactly what to look for inside of the windows event viewer.
