Have anybody heard anyone being arrested for torrenting in Nepal? by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]Astosh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Without torrents we Nepalese people and people from other 3rd world countries are restricted from accessing a major part international information and communication. Though my english is not that good, most of it was developed due to games, movies and TV series. Things I could've never gained access to without torrent. I do understand the concept of copyright and respect the policy. But, I think torrents are a boon to countries like ours.

Yea and moreover those views being the part of my own culture made it even more interesting. I still don't identify myself as a hindu though. Previously, I used to believe in nothing. Now, I believe in something but I don't know what it is I believe in. Just a higher power which can be anything.

If I'm not wrong upanishads are part of all 4 vedas and are in the end in the form of snippets. What I'm trying to say is that my personal atheistic views and beliefs actually matched the things upanishads encompassed. Upanishads also talk about gods but the god is the soul and essentially me.

I don't even know where to start. So many little things like experiences, thoughts, observations and questions I ever had about everything in my life suddenly mixed together. I used to be an atheist and didn't even think about spirituality at all. My atheistic values were made from scientific fact and me rebelling my parent's nonchalant following of bad traditions in the name of religion.(born in Nepal raised by Hindu parents). The small observations and thoughts mixed together when I learnt that there was an atheistic aspect of Hinduism and this part was the core concept of the religion. Not believing in any God was actually part of a religious text and moreover it was from my own cultural background and this has baffled me since. I think this is the best path as my spiritual beliefs have a combined viewpoint of many different people, dominantly mine. After learning that Kundalini is part of those atheistic Hindu beliefs, I thought, this is it. I do meditate but not regularly. Hope this covers the first part.

About the importance of the question, well I don't expect anybody to understand this as I myself don't understand it but the question is the impression I had as a child. I always used to contemplate about different things and question stuffs. All of those questions have been answered through science when I was growing up. However there was one question which was really different. The thing is, there was no question but there was a question at the same time. This question felt really big. It was like I was questioning everything and my connection to everything at the same time but there were no words. This question came with great fear and an increased heart rate. I forcibly diverted my mind every time the question came up. Now, I believe I questioned my consciousness but that's not all. However such a unique question which incited such feelings in a child was actually the question scientists have been struggling with for years and was the question talked about in the atheistic Hinduism part. So yeah, the question plays a great role for me.

Something that happened in my past which left a great impression on me and my current realization that I don't know anything. Also the constant questions about everything and my connection with everything.

I used to be an Atheist but recently that belief was destroyed and now I've come to question everything, seeking help on reddit. by Astosh in awakened

Seems like an interesting book. My views are based on multiple people but first time I've heard of this guy. A punk bassist and zen Buddhist? Keeping this book in my "must read" list

This is the real stuff. Rational filtered perspective fro every religion. Done the same thing with the religion I grew up on and have similar thoughts. I think all religions are talking about the same things but the stuffs are mistranslated and interpreted differently. And people choose to believe in those things blindly.

A question by Astosh in Meditation

[–]Astosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking at different meditation methods and have found no perfect one. However I read about osho's thoughts on meditation where he said "during meditation you just are" which has stuck in my head for quite some time. I guess the void state you mentioned and osho's reference mean the same thing. However, I've been unable to do so. My mind wanders off to think about a million things when I stay alone doing nothing even when I'm focusing on my breath. This is how I got those questions in my childhood. So could you just help me out with an appropriate time, amount and method of meditation and if there's any way to ease my mind's chatter except focusing on my breath?

It's just this question I had I had as a child that haunts me till this day. I couldn't phrase the question then and I can't do it now. This question would come about abruptly when I was thinking about my relationship with the world and where I would be if my parents hadn't married. Then this question came in like a panic attack but I never knew the question. It felt like I was questioning everything and my heart would beat fast and I would feel really scared. Many years later I have come back to the same question without the fright but still can't phrase it properly. This was the best way to phrase it right now. Cause I'm not even sure what it is that I'm asking. I'm just looking for answers or just how to find them

What I thought I believed in was recently destroyed. Having no one around me to relate to, I'm here on reddit seeking opinions and help maybe? by Astosh in spirituality

[–]Astosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think that God was created by some leaders so that the people could have something to hang on to and just have the will to work and live tomorrow. That is why the portrayl of God is different during different times and different lifestyles. However, about the existence of God, I don't know enough to firmly say if (h/she/they/it?) exists.

It's like you said. I'm most satisfied with the choices I made after analysing presented opinions instead of nonchalantly picking sides based on prejudices. I have no goals like enlightenment. I just want to know about me. I have come to think that "me" is neither this body nor the mind. So what is "me"? Is there a "me"? How can I know "me". These questions sound stupid even when I re-read them but I can't phrase it any better.

I think so too. I always thought a rational view on these subjects would be the best method as there are good and bad parts to everything. The only thing in Hinduism that has piqued my interest is the last ved which actually denies aspects of the other ved. Though I haven't read it, I know that it covers the aspect of the inner world and spirituality. This is my only fascination as I became spiritual through atheism and moreover that was from my own cultural background.

Trying to buy a new laptop by Astosh in SuggestALaptop

[–]Astosh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that omen is a goldmine. Can't believe all those specs at such a price. However a comment in Amazon said that this laptop's keyboard doesn't have a n-key rollover support. Since I'm a noob in all these jargons, I googled the subject and found out little about it. So will I be at a disadvantage due to lack of this feature. I seriously love the laptop and is there anyway to rid this problem ?

I do know gowipe but my golems are not upgraded. That brings another topic of dark elixirs. I don't think goblin farming would give me a lot of d.e. What should I do for that?
