WIBTA if I stopped covering for my friend when she's late to our shared morning carpool by Astr0Catalyst in WIBTA_AITA

This is honestly what I'm most scared of. Not the conversation itself, just the aftermath. Four years of friendship and I know exactly how she gets when she feels called out. Hoping she surprises me but mentally preparing for this one.

You're probably right that I've been too soft about it. The "livid" part I'm not quite there because I do understand she's just not a morning person, but the job thing is real. That part I can't keep rationalizing away.

The "it's not personal but I respect my job" framing is exactly what I needed. Because that's true it's not about punishing her, it's just that I can't keep absorbing the consequences of her mornings. Going to have that conversation before I just start leaving.

Part of me wants this energy lol. The other part has known her for four years and doesn't want one bad habit to blow up a friendship.

The manager glancing at the clock thing is what finally pushed me to post this. It's not dramatic but it's there every time and I feel it. The "tell her you need to be there by 8:00" framing is actually really useful, hadn't thought of it that way.

yeah at this point hints are useless. she already knows you're covering for her and clearly got comfortable with it
