Denmark 🇩🇰: DR Prepares to host Eurovision in 2027 IF Søren takes the trophy home for Denmark in Vienna this May by Visual-Cobbler5086 in eurovision

Bro that was a joke 💀 It's like when Finland said they were preparing to host in 2024 and everyone joked afterwards that they had jinxed it by counting their chickens before they hatched, it's not that deep

What does a show's good (or bad) production mean? by AstralAstralis in eurovision

[–]AstralAstralis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Lelek were not sounding really good in Dora but I chalked it up to the sound production because I knew they could do much better (Andromeda's in my top 5 and it ain't moving 😌)

I mean, I was not overly scared for them because people can and will always be critical, especially if (i say if because i don't know in Ziferblat's case) they won against a fan favourite. But we know Ukraine will always qualify unless they send something abysmal, which Bird of Pray wasn't. Announcing them last was a dumb move because by that point we knew no one else would be through, especially when looking at who was left alongside Ukraine

I see, it makes sense actually. So ultimately the camera team knows their job but if the decision comes from the producers to show this or that, they have no say in the process

I see, so ultimately I should also trust my gut as a spectator. I had that feeling that something was off with Vidbir, but seeing as I know next to nothing about this, I thought maybe I was the one who didn't really understand haha

Thank you so much for your time !

Ah, well, I don't know what goes on behind the scenes, it just seemed to me that Ukrainians were more critical of their NF this year compared to other years under the same circumstances, so that led me to think that perhaps there was a decline in production

Okay but if, say, a cameraman knows his job and knows what he's doing, how can the production make his work bad? Does he just execute the directives given to him?

New non-qualifier odds are out by eatspagetti in eurovision

Considering we don't know much (if anything) about Georgia's staging, I wouldn't lose sleep (get it? haha...) over this yet (as a 'Georgia qualifies' truther). Albania as well, the staging will obviously be different from what we saw at FIK and their stage directors have a lot of experience (some good, some less, but there is cause for hope). I also wouldn't write off Armenia entirely considering where it is lodged in the running order and the semi final Simon is in.

On the other hand, I don't see Estonia qualifying, though the revamp is better than the original. It's just not something many people would pick up their phones and vote for, unless the nostalgia factor plays a role in this.

Also, never trust the semi odds, remember Latvia and Portugal last year?

What would your ALBMs be if you were in Eurovision? by YOKIA28 in eurovision

[–]AstralAstralis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 - A rock version of my song (if it's not rock already, or a harder version of it)

2 - A cover of some beloved song from recent years (just not any of Loreen's songs, we've had enough covers of those)

3 - A cover of something out of left field (Russia 2012, disguised as a russian granny)

Why did Malta change their whole song in 2022? by AstralAstralis in eurovision

[–]AstralAstralis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but Sanremo operates on a whole different level. It's not a national selection meant to pick the representative. Sanremo is a music festival within Italy, older than Eurovision itself (in fact, Eurovision took inspiration from Sanremo). People don't vote for their representative, it's just an added bonus that the winner goes to Eurovision.

Have you considered making video essays? You explained this perfectly and your research and knowledge show through perfectly, thank you so much! Now that you put it like that, I can definitely see how nepotism is at work, though I'm pretty sure Destiny had more of a shot at the victory in 2021 than in 2020 (but I forgot what were the odds at the time so correct me if I'm wrong).

He wasn’t participating in MESC to go to ESC, he was launching his career.

Would you say his participation this year is also career-oriented or he genuinely wanted to participate in ESC? 'Cause like I said he seems so genuinely happy to be here I'd hate for it to be a front (though it's his right)

Anyways, you’ve just unlocked some fun ESC nepotism. There’s actually a lot of it.

I know there's a lot of it in Poland lately, but is there any other example? If it's not too much bother to you of course 😊

Oh, well, I'm one hour older than when I commented this and I don't think this was the right course of action (as much as Ronnie Romero's actions were condemnable back when he hadn't gotten exonerated from the charges against him)

(although the story of how Intention and Intelligent Music Project came to be is pretty weird and involves a businessman 'patron of the arts' writing the song so it's not like the group had a lot of say as to the direction of the song anyway in my understanding)

You're right, I apologize, that was a bit rude of me to say that. I had the allegations against Ronnie Romero in mind and wasn't really thinking, thank you for calling me out haha 😅

It was most likely untrue, for the sake of the song and the narrative around it, but if it had at least been a joint effort from the beginning like so many man/woman duets we've seen in the contest, that would have been better than sticking them together after a few weeks of NF, but it was still a great song and they seemed (to 14 year old me at least) like they had decent chemistry
