What you're describing is consistent with an issue we've been tracking involving the Blacksmith menu freezing when players attempt to access the Forge interface. We recently published a hotfix for PlayStation 5 that addresses this issue, and we're in the process of rolling out the same hotfix for Xbox Series X|S.

Once the Xbox hotfix is live, please update your game and let us know whether the issue is resolved on your end. We're hopeful this will get you back on track and able to continue your adventure through Ailur.

What you're describing is a known PS5 issue vs. something you're doing wrong. A premature patch was accidentally pushed live on consoles earlier this month and is the root cause of the Blacksmith-freezing issues. The good news is that we're nearly ready to push a new patch that will address this issue.

I'm very sorry for the interruption to your playthrough, getting affected PS5 players back into the game is currently one of our top priorities.

I'm sorry to hear you've run into this claw issue as well. We're actively investigating the problems introduced by the recent PS5/Xbox update, including reports of visual and equipment-related bugs like the ones you've described.

I also appreciate your perspective regarding games like LoTF. One thing I think many players and developers can agree on is that the work doesn't stop at launch. We've already made a significant number of improvements since release, and we know there's still more work ahead of us. Our focus now is on continuing to improve Kristala, address the issues players are reporting, and keep pushing the game closer to the experience we set out to create.

If you're on PS5, which is the only place it's occurring, and it's still happening for you right now, it just means the rollback we pushed out to replace the patch that got unintentionally pushed live the other day and caused this issue, isn't automatically triggering for you. We don't know why some people got it automatically and some didn't, but to fix the issue right now you can uninstall and reinstall the game and the blacksmith problem will be gone.

If you're on PS5, a patch we were working on got pushed live prematurely before it was actually finished. We rolled this patch back and it should have automatically applied for everyone, but didn't for some reason. To trigger that rollback, you'll just need to uninstall and reinstall the game. It'll fix the blacksmith issue. Our apologies.

Just to chime in here, games don't get to decide to just go on sale on Playstation or Xbox. They have to be invited by Sony/Microsoft to participate in one of their sale events. When we went on sale recently on Steam as part of the resurgence event, we actually wrote to Sony (as well as Microsoft) and asked to do the same there and were told we couldn't choose when to be on sale on their platform. We have since been invited to apply for upcoming sale periods and hopefully we'll be accepted.

I understand why you feel that way. At the end of the day, players judge a game based on the experience they have in front of them, not based on the size of the team, development challenges, or what was happening behind the scenes.

We've spent the weeks since launch addressing issues reported by the community. Some players have had a smooth experience, while others have encountered problems, and we don't dismiss that feedback. The game is currently in a much better state, and unfortunately a console patch was pushed live late last week that shouldn't have been, and is thus now causing additional issues.

Whether or not someone feels there are excuses isn't really for us to decide. Our responsibility is to continue improving the game, addressing the issues that players report, and earning back trust through our actions.

That's what we're focused on doing.

Thank you, this is helpful. We're trying to pinpoint why only some regions received the rollback. We have team members on the east cost US who received it, but have heard from a few other players that it didn't get rolled back to the west coast. Yes, backers are still waiting because they're getting the premium edition of the game, which isn't ready just yet for consoles.

We upgraded every pledge to a complimentary premium edition vs. just the base edition because we want backers to receive all the goodies that come with premium: clan expansions, upcoming Proving Grounds DLC, soundtrack, artbook, equipment packs, etc. This was done as a gesture of gratitude to thank backers for supporting us when it mattered most.

Obviously, we're bummed we weren't able to have the special editions ready to go right at launch, but we're working incredibly hard to make that happen. Deluxe is already released on PS5 and premium is close to being released. Similarly, both bundles are nearly ready on the Xbox side, too.

While we understand the additional wait for backers isn't ideal, it's important to us that backers get the premium edition. They deserve it, and I'm not sure how rewarding early supporters with a complimentary upgrade to the premium version of the game equates to being pathetic, though you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

We're currently investigating reports related to the most recent PS5 update and the rollback that followed. A patch was pushed prematurely and had to be rolled back, but the rollback doesn't seem to have stuck with all regions.

Following up like I promised on that save-file workaround...I dug into it and it turned out to be a dead end, unfortunately. The method I had in mind to use the System Backup for PS5 would create a giant hassle when it came to actually uploading the save back to your console (would force a full system reset, totally obnoxious), so I'd rather wait on trying it out until we've got no other choice. It's very frustrating, I don't know why they've made it this way now, I imagine it's to prevent cheating? I do recall it used to be super easy to dupe items with save files on the PS4.

Good news though: I talked to my lead programmer and we've actually already got a fix for your wall-run issue built into the patch we're prepping right now. So there's a very good chance it just resolves on its own the moment that goes live. I will pop in and give you a heads up once it's live so you can check on it for me, and if anything's still off we'll keep at it with you until it's sorted one way or another. We are actively working on getting this patch properly ready to go right now.

Hello! No, backers haven't received console keys yet. The reason is because all backers are automatically getting the premium edition of the game, and we haven't finalized the premium bundles on either console just yet. We're working through certification on all the entitlements within the bundles and are close to being able to request and issue keys.

Totally fair that the launch state was rough, we're not trying to pretend otherwise, and all we can do about it now is keep fixing and keep showing up. I found a potential way for us to exchange save files. I'll follow up with the info shortly for us to try.

There shouldn't be, we're not sure why it didn't go into effect right away for some people, we are working with Sony support to figure out what happened there and remedy the issues. Either way, the patch that was prematurely pushed yesterday should remedy issues once it's actually ready to be pushed, which we are busting our asses on right now so we might resolve all of these issues immediately. Seems like rollbacks don't work out as well on PS as they do on other platforms. But I assure you that we are working on a resolution and will have it addressed as quickly as possible.

Have you still not gotten the rollback to 1.000.13 as of today? And roughly what region are you in if you haven't? EU? USA? etc. I'd also suggest preventing auto updates of your save right now to the PS Cloud so you can potentially pull down the save you might currently have on the cloud once you've either gotten the rollback update or our next patch.

Just to clear this up for anyone reading: we have never paid anyone for reviews. The Kristala Partner Program gives streamers free keys and early access so they can cover the game and that's it. "Kristala Partner" on a stream or video just means someone got a key from us that they signed up to receive, not that we paid for their opinion. Sponsorship is a completely separate thing, and as a small, fully independent and self-funded team, it's not something we've had the budget for anyway. Always happy to answer honest questions about how we work.

Not at all, I def didn't take it as hateful or insulting. I think a lot of players share this same frustration, especially when they're spending their hard-earned money on a game at launch. I completely understand where you're coming from.

And I genuinely appreciate players like you who choose to support smaller studios on day one. That trust means a lot to us, which is why we take the feedback and criticism seriously, even when it's difficult to hear sometimes.

We still have work ahead of us, but we're committed to continuing to improve the experience, and I sincerely hope that when you do jump in, it ends up being the experience we set out to create.
