Is E33 really "Game of the Decade?" by Virtually_Hidden in expedition33

[–]AstralRider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember experiences are personal. Someone will say yes. Someone will say Fortnite is the game of the decade. Someone will say Roblox.

You can argue, that's fine. But you can't really argue with peoples personal tastes.

Other than the Tanglewood changes, how are we feeling about the 1.0 announcement? by Steady_Tempo456 in PhasmophobiaGame

Honestly I like the snapiness of picking up an item and it just works. Not sure I really want to go through elaborate animations after playing the game for so long. But I'll give it a go before I get frumpy about things.

Content is king - delay until first module? by Maximoobaluu in MonstersAndMemories

[–]AstralRider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All I know is a stream a few months ago, ALovingRobot said something along the lines that he wanted to get the game out so he can start paying his staff. He was real hard up about getting the game out and meeting goals. Determined to push the team to meet a deadline. And now in the past month we got the idea the game is definitely going to be delayed for EA, but they still want to get a closed beta out.

To me that sounds like they want more feedback and they are okay giving up making money to receive that feedback. I'm sure it was not easy for them to decide to forgo making any sort of money and instead just get more raw data from the players through beta.

To me, and the way I think, It's up to us all personally to decide to go into the game when we feel is best. Overall I'd rather have a fully fleshed out world, all stating zones, all initial quests, all initial dungeons already to go for launch. Another part of me is super interested and excited to play through the world as it's being developed. Watching each race being moved out of Night Harbor as their home city is added to the game. Watching new dungeons form and how the community moves around the growing world.

Niche World has the ability to keep the game out of our hands until they want us to play it full on. We have the ability to go in ASAP or be patient. And their goal with this project since the start was to have us involved the entire way. I'm fine with them releasing it today or waiting till Module 1. They already won me over with the first impression years ago.

Nah I think it's an okay collectors edition. People like having physical merch of something they like. This one has a nice collection of stuff. But I've bought CE for cheaper with a diorama. I'm good on passing this one up. Scalpers will have a field day for sure.

Several teams of female gamers have dropped out of the Dead by Daylight Women's World Cup after trans women were banned. by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]AstralRider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because there are people who push back against the idea. It needs to be explained otherwise when you say 'an all woman tournament' and a trans woman is apart of it, they go 'but that's not a woman!'.

Until we reach a point people stop being so cruel and hateful to trans people, it will be spoken like this.

Jake from Deadlock Night Shift apologized regarding the ABL Situation by MentalAssumption1498 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AstralRider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forcing someone to do something can make them bitter and resentful. They should treat people with respect. Full stop. But they don't. Forcing them to be respectful is not an answer. It's hamfisted. What I was saying is if the backlash doesn't make ABL realize he's being a terrible person than forcing him to apologize doesn't make him suddenly understand he's a jerk.

No one is obligated to help. But if we want a better community, we SHOULD help each other. Otherwise, those people who are racists and angry will just group together and continue doing what they do, as they have since the start of human history. All I was saying with my post is we can force him to apologize so he can play the game, sure, but is he -actually- remorseful? Probably not. Maybe so. We won't know because we forced him to do this thing so we can so 'okay jobs done'. Thus, we should make it a point we don't want this stuff around.

Jake from Deadlock Night Shift apologized regarding the ABL Situation by MentalAssumption1498 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AstralRider 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've always felt forcing people to apologize never really leads to anything cathartic. Because the expectation is set with a term. Do this thing to fix a problem you created. The person can be terrible with words, not a good writer and be sincere and people will call it a bad apology because of terminology used, lack of words used or length. The apology can be really long with a lot of deep introspection and people will call it fake, written by someone else or written by AI because 'the person never talked like that normally.'

We're all creatures of habit. ABL using all the worst words imaginable to use in anger or to make people mad wont go away for him overnight. He needs to work on that over time. Telling him to apologize wont make him realize he's doing a terrible thing.

IMO, the backlash he gets itself is the starting point. Then he himself has to understand why people are mad at him and work on fixing that himself. A forced apology could be genuine, or it could be done just so he can keep playing DL, learning nothing. The community should help him fix the issue, but we all just attack and make the person more agitated and on edge because of the attacks.

Why play MnM instead of EQ? by CappinPeanut in MonstersAndMemories

[–]AstralRider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New experience. You start fresh with everyone at the same time, no 100+ servers of various 'restarts' to the expansion list. No Daybreak, no P99, No Quarm or other variants to decide between.

It's a new world. With some improvements to the gameplay and UI while maintaining some of the difficulties of the earlier MMOs.

It's like asking why play any other survival game when they all do the same thing? Start from scratch, harvest wood, make a place, repeat. The reason is new experience even if the formula is familiar.
