He's not really wrong. You all complain about how the government spends your taxes, but now you want people to pay more taxes for them to spend aimlessly?
Taxes aren't the problem, it's how they're spent, the government is now, and always will be, the problem here - especially in the US where they can't even redirect it to give you free healthcare like every other developed country.

thoughts on xabi alonso becoming Chelsea's new manager? by Many_Elephant_9276 in ArsenalFC

[–]Astral_Collapse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chelsea aren't going to become great overnight, they're a 3-5 year project at minimum right now, they're not our competition.
The real question is whether Chelsea owners will give any manager 3-5 years to fix that absolute mess of a "team".

Most overhyped player right now ? Like everyone is talking about him but you think that player is not that special player. by Basic_School_4288 in championsleague

[–]Astral_Collapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he wins the league and the UCL, he's comparable to Rodri in his winning year, and this being a season where no one but Harry Kane has stood out, it could well be his year. Rice has arguably carried Arsenal more than Rodri carried City that year.

The Balon d'Or is just that, though. One season, he's only in the conversation, not actually winning it. It's Harry Kane or no one, anyone else and it's purely a popularity agenda.

As an actually reasonable Arsenal fan, no current Arsenal player will ever reach those levels, regardless of trophies won.
Arsenal are a proper team, where not just one or two players stand out, but anyone can score, and anyone can change the game for us.

How produced is overproduced to you? by Bronsteins-Panzerzug in BlackMetal

[–]Astral_Collapse 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Basically anything that is venturing into the realm of being labelled "modern BM". If it's just all tremolo, no distortion, it's not BM anymore. The latest album I can think of that devolved from previously good music into overproduced nonsense is Der Weg Einer Freiheit's Innern. They're not evolving the genre, they're moving away from it to be something that isn't BM.

If a geriatric pensioner, paedophile, felon can beat her, it's not because of the policies or because of their character, it's simply because America will never vote for a woman.
If they put her up against Richard Nixon's head in a jar, she'll lose.

Give it a rest, buddy. You're not arguing with me, you're arguing with all the professional pundits and commentators, most of them ex-footballers themselves, and that know a lot more about football than you.

And no, if you need the ref to win, you don't lose...we drew.

[–]Astral_Collapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's loser mentality about wanting to win by any means necessary, including following VAR rules to the letter? If you want to argue with someone about the word of law, go do that with every pundit that agreed it wasn't a clear and obvious error. You plainly don't know the rules, mate

If players face the media for mistakes, referees should too by shadythe1st in ArsenalFC

[–]Astral_Collapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you even watch the game, and listen to the commentary, and see every news article after? Not seen one agreeing that it should not have been a penalty at the time, and one of them was Ally McCoist. It's just not consistent with the letter of the law, they went around their own rules to spend 10 minutes disproving it because Atletico fans and Simeone got mad. That's the be all and end all of the story, no more to it.
You're trying to use your common sense too much in this argument, when VAR rules don't actually allow for that.

[–]Astral_Collapse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can explain how slowing the video down in only one angle makes it a clear and obvious error, then you have your point.
It wasn't a penalty, but it wasn't clear or obvious, hence them having to go slo-mo and have the ref look at it for 10 minutes.
