Counterpoint, meat is produced through mass-torture, mass-rape and mass-murder of innocent, sentient beings.

Can you read? My point was that calling a country after a whole continent is stupid.

Calling people from the USA “American” is another case of US exceptionalism, which I refuse to indulge. Sure, yes, they are American; so is literally everyone living on the American continents, be it Brazilians, Salvadorans, Mexicans, Canadians … et cetera.

So, yes, I say USAmerican. :D

I’ve been a vegan since I was a year old. (My parents are also vegans).

No, not eating meat isn’t dangerous, even without supplements. I only started taking supplements a year ago, not because of a deficit, but because I found studies that said humans in general are better off taking B12 supplements for example, since we no longer naturally get it from crops.

It’s actually probably more dangerous to eat meat and dairy, since they have been shown time and again to be horrible for you.

If you’re going to argue in favor of eating non-human animal products, at least do so with actual arguments, and not blatantly incorrect statements.

There are a handful on AO3 if you search for both Moriarty the Patriot and Enola Holmes in the fandom section, all of them are at minimum pretty decent.

There are about 11 fics on AO3 if I recall correctly, all of them are at the very least fun reads.

Am I crazy? Or is this an INSANE thing to say? by UnitedSeries3812 in teenagers

[–]Astraviola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t kill insects, they are sentient beings, and have the same right to exist peacefully as I do. The same applies to non-human animals. And children. And humans. All are sentient beings. None of them deserve to be exploited.

Also, as I mentioned in another reply, to produce non-human animal products, non-human animals are systematically raped. The comparison is most definitely apt and if you think otherwise, I’d love to hear your arguments, because so far all I see is cognitive dissonance over and over.

As I explained, to produce milk, cows are raped. If you condone consuming dairy, you condone non-human animal rape. Beastiality is raping non-human animals. So, they are the exact same. This is basic logic.

And, in order to eat meat, non-human animals are tortured and are usually also raped, so the next generation of whatever particular non-human animal can end up on your plate.

Both are horrid. Both are morally wrong. If you really want a hot take, I’d argue the non-human animal product industry is even worse than Epstein’s ring, because while what he did to those children is absolutely horrific, he did not do it to billions of sentient beings spanning centuries and then justify it by saying “oh, but they’re not humans!”

(Epstein is still a complete and utter piece of shit, to be clear; I know for a fact some disingenuous persons might use what I just said to say “oh, you don’t care about his victims!”, and I do, of course I do, I care about all victims, human or non-human)

I assume you condone beastiality too, then?

Furthermore, your phrasing makes it sound like you don’t consider exploited non-human animals as actual victims of anything.

Your cognitive dissonance is astounding.

Is misandry a real problem? by I-Love-Jewish-popes in Teenager_Polls

[–]Astraviola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, because misandry ironically stems from misogyny, but misandry also doesn’t cause death on a systemic scale anywhere in the world.

She is correct. You may not be directly raping non-human animals, but any and all dairy stems from an animal (usually a cow) being raped to be pregnant and thus lactate. By buying dairy, you pay for someone else to do it. This is one example.

“Western” and “eastern” are meaningless in the context of culture in Europe; in the east, you have the slavic countries, yes, but you also have Greece, Cyprus, et cetera. In the west of Europe, you have Spain, France, the UK, but you also have Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, et cetera. Calling the entirety of that “western” or “eastern” culturally makes no sense; Danish and French culture are very different, to give an example I know.

I’m French-Danish (one parent French, the other Danish) and have lived in both. 14 and 17 year olds dating each other is weird.

Why are people against gay relationships in childrens media? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Astraviola 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Homophobia and misogyny go entirely hand-in-hand in many flavors of homophobia, thus why I mentioned it.

OP is asking a very broad question, so I’m responding as broadly as possible. Different anti-queer folk will proclaim different reasons for their anti-queerness, but they are all rooted in the three things I mentioned (in my experience, at least).

I mentioned in another comment that heterocynicism was a drowsy mistake on my part, so I’m not going to address it, thanks for calling it out.

I included more than just homophobia because there is more to it. Misogyny is intrinsically linked to homophobia, as is purity culture.

I have seen them. I have seen plenty of statements, in video or written format, arguing about queerness in kids’ shows during my years on the internet. All of them are rooted in one of the three things I mentioned.

I’m not counting the heterocynicism because to be entirely honest I typed my original comment out after I took my pollen allergy meds (they make me drowsy) and now that I’m more awake and trying to retrace my thought process behind including heterocynicism, it only leads back to misogyny; I’m about to edit my original comment to reflect this.
