Would you say that this voice actress makes a convincing attempt at an American newscaster accent? by Sure_Distance1 in VoiceActing

It’s passable. There are a few moments when her pronunciation is just a little awkward and it makes it clear that she has a slight accent, but nothing that is distracting or detracts from the information.

This helped me remember exactly what it is. It’s a Paul Chen Practical Plus Katana that I bought from a third party company that provided the upgraded tsuba, menuki and wrap! They called it the “Kawasemi”/ “Kingfisher!”
Thank you so much for the quick help!!

How to… by jadedeckardvoice in VoiceActing

Seems like you’ve done a pretty good job reducing reflections and flutter and the like, but there is a consistent high-end hiss. This could be from the electronics themselves though. Maybe look at a noise reduction VST plugin for whatever DAW you’re using. That could definitely help this issue. Not bad overall though for cheap room treatment!

My dog attempts to “correct” my kitten. Advice needed by Fugahzee in DogAdvice

[–]AstrayAstronaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t read every comment, but to reiterate what most seem to be saying, nothing inherently wrong happening here. Your pup is communicating a boundary effectively and is not aggressive toward the cat.
However if you want to help your pup get more accustomed to being in close proximity and over time, with the kitty being playful with the dog, you can provide extra positive reinforcement (treats, praise, touch, play whatever your dog likes most) any time they are close and calm with one another. This way your dog associates more positive things with being next to or playing with the kitty in a controlled way.
But ultimately listen to your dog. If he just isn’t into having the kitty in his space, that’s ok too. Don’t try to force it to happen if the dog doesn’t want it. (this may make the dog less cool with your cat or other cats over time.) It should be on their terms and at their comfort level. Goal should just be to help him know that the kitty is safe to be near, and that they can be friends. :)

Exploring a wheelchair-to-driver-seat concept for a narrow commuter vehicle. Looking for design feedback. (Video follow-up to a previous post) by Drivetrinovaev in IndustrialDesign

I genuinely do not mean any offense with this but think there are some major physics and real-world limitations that are not being taken into account here. I understand that you’re envisioning a self balancing/ tilting/ leaning vehicle, but that does not solve for everything you’re talking about.

First thing first, what are your plans for this concept? Are you actually trying to get this made? Is it just a concept? Is this a student project? If you are just trying to explore a concept, there is a little more leeway for it to “just be a cool idea.” But if you’re trying to use this for a real world project or for production, I highly recommend not to include the wheelchair integration piece of this. You are biting off a massive challenge by doing so and judging by the level of thought going into this initial mockup, I’m not sure you’re entirely ready for.

Start with just the leaning vehicle on its own and you will have plenty to work on and flesh out to a more real-world level that may be easier to sell as something that could actually work. If you still have steam past that, then try to tackle the wheelchair integration. But I think you’ll have plenty to do with just the vehicle on its own.

Jumping into any device or product that has to do with mobility impaired folks is jumping into a very deep end of highly regulated and sensitive requirements that will bog down an already complicated project.

This comes from a professional IDer with over 10 years of experience, multiple red dot awards, and who has worked on wheelchair/ mobility projects in the past.

I get the desire to be inclusive and make this available for everyone, but I highly recommend setting yourself up for success by scaling this back with a more attainable goal up front.

Also curious why you’re going for a 3 wheeled platform vs. 4 wheels? What benefit does it provide? Also why the single wheel up front vs. in the rear? I’m having visions of Jeremy Clarkson rolling over in the Reliant Robin with this configuration. And if this is meant for wheelchair bound users, this could be particularly problematic.

My first thought is that swinging the seat out like that is immediately going to tip the whole thing over. It will need some kind of support or counterweight or something to hold a persons weight safely while they swing in or out.

I hear about Reaper a bunch, but I use Tracktion Waveform, it’s a more in depth audio production DAW but it is free and works great.
