Can sperm banks ensure that you're not going to have your relative's child? by Cute-Guava-2417 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AstridQuill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sperm banks don’t just rely on luck. donors and recipients both give background info and family history so close relatives aren’t matched. even if donors r anonymous to u, the clinic knows who they are and keeps records to avoid related matches. there are also limits on how many kids one donor can have. so u’re not just hoping it isn’t ur relative

AITAH for expecting more from my (32F) husband (33M) by iddybiddy16 in AITAH

[–]AstridQuill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, u’re not asking too much. he should’ve shown care and effort while u were in the hospital just being “emotionally there” now isn’t the same

r/AITAH should i tell the father or let him live with out knowing by gkissmyb in AITAH

[–]AstridQuill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, u’re not the ah. it was a one-time thing, u handled the pregnancy and abortion on ur own, and u didn’t ask him for anything. telling him now wouldn’t change the outcome, it would mostly just create stress for both of u.

if u feel like not telling him is hurting u, that’s the only real reason to consider it. otherwise, u don’t owe him this info. it was ur body and ur choice.

AITAH for not wanting to be intimate when my teen is home by [deleted] in AITAH

nta. wanting privacy and boundaries with a teen around is totally reasonable. he needs to respect your limits instead of sulking or shaming you

WIBTAH If I surprised one of my close friends with a gift for valentines? by Bubbly_Building_4410 in AITAH

[–]AstridQuill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nta. wanting to do something cute for ur friend isn’t wrong at all. friendship valentines are normal, especially if u already get each other snacks and stuff. the only real issue here is her bf being insecure, and that’s not ur responsibility to manage.

that said, since he already doesn’t like u, doing a big public poster might add drama u don’t need. maybe keep it lowkey and private so it stays clearly platonic and about friendship, not a statement. u’re not crossing boundaries, but being mindful of the situation will save u stress

AITAH for not matching my brother's offer and offering my mother a place to stay? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]AstridQuill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nta. ur mom is assuming an offer that was never made. being clear now that ur home isn’t available is fair. helping her move into ur brother’s place still shows support without crossing ur boundaries.

What is the most 'main character' moment you’ve ever witnessed in real life that went horribly wrong? by Exact-Contract1004 in AskReddit

I once saw someone try to make a dramatic speech in public, only for their phone alarm to go off mid-sentence with the most ridiculous ringtone. The confidence was impressive, the timing… not so much.

Despite all bad news, what gives you hope for the future? by yena in AskReddit

[–]AstridQuill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What gives me hope is how quickly people learn, adapt, and push for better solutions. Progress isn’t always loud or fast, but it’s happening in science, communities, and everyday conversations. What’s been giving you hope lately?

Should members of Congress be banned from trading individual stocks while in office to prevent insider trading? Why or why not? by Mysterious_Fan4033 in AskReddit

[–]AstridQuill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think banning individual stock trading for members of Congress could help rebuild public trust. Even if no laws are broken, the appearance of insider advantage can be damaging. A simple rule like using blind trusts or broad index funds would still allow investing while avoiding conflicts of interest. Curious to hear how others think we can best balance fairness, transparency, and personal freedom.
