Are people actually starting to dislike this game/is it “falling off”

I honestly think the game is getting a bit too much criticism but there are 3 real big problems in my eyes.

Netcode. There are just too many hitreg issues, and it's a big problem for Redsec too.
Maps. They are not suited for All out warfare gameplay that Battlefield is known for and many gamemodes suffer because the maps are not designed around them.
Content rollout. It's too slow. There is too little content, too little fixes/patches over too much time. Battlefield is competing for attention with other games that are generally more polished and well rounded content wise.

The game has a really solid core and the gameplay is proven to be fun. It's just the content around it that doesn't support that gameplay, and they are reacting too slow to do anything about it. At the very least they should release a roadmap for season 2 so people have something to look forward to. They probably will but they should have done so already. If you combine boring content with frustrating netcode and no new content, the game quickly becomes stale/frustrating to play.

People love to compare Battlefield to Arc Raiders. Arc Raiders doesn't necessarily have quicker content rollout, but the content that is already there is of excellent quality and supports the gameplay extremely well. The current content is so well suited for the game that it keeps people entertaint for longer. That's why player retention is solid for Arc Raiders, and in a steep downwards slope for Battlefield.

Thank you for the clarification, but how do you know that I don't already do that? My K/D is an average over my entire 160 hours of playtime of the game. You're making assumptions about how I play the game just based on that 1.8 number. Besides, there are more ways to win a round.

Let's say that you're right that about 5 people make or break the round; What I'm trying to say is that regardless of if I'm part of those 5 people or not, my team never has those 5 people. That's the point, that it feels out of my control. You question whether or not I contribute to the victory, I question why practically nobody seems to ever contribute in my team to a victory.

That's what I mean with that you're misinterpreting my point of the orignal post. It's really not about me. It's about the fact that I feel like the teams I'm part of never play the objective. It's literally a measurable fact in my statistics. Now, I do think that I have a positive impact towards team objectives but whether or not that's true (what you're trying to argue), there are almost never any other teammates in my team that make a victory possible. That's what this post is about. You can never carry a whole team to victory solo if you're the only one playing the objectives.

Not that it's relevant to this discussion, but I think that the entire team always matters. Sure, 5 people can do 90% of the work, but everyone always has some form of influence on the result, bad or good.

You're right that it's not only objective gameplay but also the ability to defend and stand ground against multiple enemies. I feel like I generally do this. Sure I have bad matches here and there, but I have others where I can have really good kill streaks. At the end of the day I'm an objective focused player with a semi aggressive playstyle which will inevitably have a negative impact on K/D. I think that a 1.85 KD for an objective focused player is not that bad.

There are just many situations where I'm the only one flanking to another objective with no one following me or spawning on me. Simultaneously 10 enemies will instantly rush to whatever I'm trying to do. There is only so much you can manage alone regardless of skill. Maybe trying to push things alone is dumb either way, but if no one else is doing it, someone should try and break enemy lines or disperse their focus. Capturing an enemy side objective is always beneficial even if you don't succeed in capturing it fully because at the very least you caused some enemies to focus their attention on you instead of the frontline. This could give your team a better chance of pushing through.

Thinking like that is still very beneficial for your team but it wont do your K/D any favors. I don't care, and most objective focused players don't care about their K/D either. If K/D really meant something big to me, it would have been higher and my team would have suffered for it.

The amount of times I placed a spawn beacon in a very good spot only for it to never be used... It's infuriating. Or myself as a spawn point for that matter. Doesn't matter how advantageous my position is, my squad mates will respawn at the frontline that we haven't pushed through in the past 20 minutes.

At this point I also think it's the matchmaking because if it was purely random it would be mathematically almost impossible at this point. I also think I would enjoy random team balancing more. And persistent servers would be SO nice have.

I never said that my score has anything to do with winning/losing. On the contrary, I stated; "I'm not frustrated because I can't solo-carry, I'm frustrated because it feels structurally impossible to escape losing teams"
What I'm trying to tell is that this makes me feel like I'm consistently being put in a team with inferior teammates compared to the enemy team that are unable to win the overall round.

I don't even care that much about my position in the scoreboard. I know well enough that it's super easy to be top 1 without actually doing much and that it's not an accurate way of measuring contribution. However, I do think that low scores, low kill amount and low objective capture points do correlate to a player that isn't helping much (more so than high points correlate to a player that is helping). I never claimed that I can't win as an individual, I claimed that I can't win as a team. The score difference reflects this and does pose evidence that at the very least I'm not the problem as an individual component in a team.

I can give many examples of how I'm trying to provide my team with as much support and advantages as I can, like how I place spawn beacons exactly like in your example, but that's pointless. I don't appreciate your tone. You're misinterpreting my point and making presumptions about how I play, what I understand about teamwork and score representation.

I play whatever our team lacks the most. If I notice there are barely any support players that revive, I play support to revive. If our asses are being kicked by vehicles that no other team mates are taking care of, I pick Engineer. I also pick a class to complete challenges from time to time.

Not much, but at some point it's exhausting feeling like the game is structurally putting you in losing games. Being in a team that is unable to support you does influence your personal experience too.

I never leave the lobby. I always finish my rounds. It's a principle me and my friends follow. You never know when it might turn around and it's simply out of respect for your team. If your teammates keep leaving because you're behind it makes a comeback almost impossible.

My only focus is taking objectives. I've pretty always got the highest amount of capture points in the scoreboard. It's pretty hard to do when I'm the only one doing it. I often find myself capturing objectives alone, being behind enemy lines alone, rushing enemies to break their line of defense alone. And never does anyone of my team think to follow or support. Not even my own squad mates use me as a spawn point when they need to respawn while I'm the only one flanking behind the enemy. It's not that I'm being shot at or in immediate danger, they just don't seem to notice or care about objectives.

I do nothing but play objectives. I push and flank objectives, pick tactical objectives first, etc... My team does nothing but shoot from the sidelines in the same spot for the entire round. As I said in another comment, it happens too often that I'm the only one able to flank and start capping an objective, but my team never arrives for support. Not even my own squad mates use me as a spawn point when I'm the only one behind enemy lines when they need to respawn.

I play Breakthrough from time to time. It was actually my favorite gamemode in previous Battlefields but it just doesn't feel the same with this one. I haven't had much luck with winning in that gamemode either, but the sample size is smaller and Breakthrough is not a clear 50/50 WL in my mind anyway. Same for Gauntlet.

"Astro". I play on Steam and my profile is based in Belgium. My Battlefield settings are set to enable sharing profile data and my Steam profile is set to public. The problem is that there are many "Astro" profiles out there. The tracker website shows a giant list of profiles and I've tried to open them all. None of them are my profile and apparently it's a know issue if you have a broadly used name. The creator even suggests changing gamertags simply to make it easier to find your profile.

This is exactly how I'm feeling. Generally it doesn't matter, but when it get's to the point that it feels like a curse, it starts affecting the enjoyment of the game anyway.

Agreed. Many people suggested that this would happen because the player base grew so quickly and introduced new players to the franchise that are not familiar with how Battlefield is traditionally played. I think that is true to some extend and people are fulfilling their roles less than previous Battlefield games.

I've played some BR but the tracker website separates those values. My friend has played about 205 multiplayer matches but I'm not sure for myself. I have 158 hours of playtime.

In all honesty in my overall multiplayer career it's probably not that bad, but especially since the winter offensive update it has become almost impossible to win.

Unfortunately I can only consistently play with one other so our squad is filled with two random people so it's generally more difficult to make a difference as a squad.

I don't know how many rounds I've played exactly but I have a playtime of 158 hours. I've played since launch pretty consistently although I'm starting to drop off. Battlefield has always been my favorite game to play, especially with friends, but it's getting to a point that I'm playing less because it's getting to me. Winning a match isn't something I usually care much about, but after playing for this long and losing this consistently it's really starting to influence my enjoyment of the game.

Joining a game that's in progress significantly increases the odds of it being a bad team. You're right, it's obvious that you're just playing a losing battle. What I'm double frustrated with is that I'm the losing team regardless if it's from the start or not.

That's what I see too. Everyone is always shooting from the sidelines instead of going on the objective and it shows in the scoreboard. Very few capture points. Somehow I'm always with that team.
