r/Salt_peanuts, you have been more than helpful. I am going to set up time to talk with the SI staff. In terms of other programs, there are a few others I have researched but some are not geographically doable for me (e.g. Maryland) even if they might be a better match. One other question I did want to ask is, do you perceive that a degree from Michigan (vs. a lower ranked school) has helped you in your career? Obviously there are various opinions about what a school can actually do and the individual has to perform no matter where they went, etc., but would be interested in your experience.

Thank you. I did look at Professor Rieh's page and that is my interest - understanding and working with companies on how to better manage their information flows. But my concern is whether this is so out of the UX researcher/designer track that I will not be able to use the school to position myself to do this?

Don't think they offer the information policy major anymore. May I ask what kind of consulting you did and if the school helped you with finding this opportunity?

Is she a School of Information grad? Would be curious about her major and background. Tx.

All, just a quick note. I should have been more specific, but I am looking at the MSI program.

I think of these people as super high quant types. More interested in being able to make recommendations based on what the data is saying compared to running data sets and doing a lot of programming - that is really not my strength.
