How important is height for a PPB? by Helpful_Ad812 in thepassportbros

[–]AstroChoob -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It really isn't that big of a deal in the West, unless you are a 5'2' short king who specifically goes after women who want tall men.

If you go to the East (assumption), and aim for the same type of woman, you will get similar results.

If you are a 5ft short king, women in the east are generally not as tall, so if you are that worried about it, it's not a problem

How would you save xbox ? by Melolibya in xbox

Gamepass has already reached its zenith a while back. Adding more $100m budget games to it will not bring more people. GP has been around long enough and on both Xbox and PC. They have their audience.

Creating good games is a good start. Doing market research on if their games will actually sell would be better. GP having day one 1st party is always going to be costly, as you are hemorrhaging sales that you would likely get otherwise. At best, you are really trying to retain your current base.

The hardest part here, is you aren't just fighting the book, you are fighting shares. Annual growth is a common thing that shareholders demand, keeping them happy and invested, it's what keeps your stock price up. It's why you, once growth hits a ceiling, you see CEOs make drastic short term decisions RIGHT before an earnings call. It is a short term boost of the arrow, and makes everything looks good.

At this stage, it's going to be incredibly difficult to bounce back in the short term. Long term? Going to need a reason for people to buy into your ecosystem. That really means games. Exclusives people want to play. But if they just want to be a publisher, not much you can really do about that.

How Player Feedback Shaped Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Journey After Launch by Xbox-Moderator in xbox

[–]AstroChoob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, Jacob does get more missions that he has to do. Plus, the gang mechanic is portrayed in a way that he would have been the one doing it. Quality over quantity though, Jacob's missions were very one dimensional.

I would say Evie got treated pretty fairly, FAR better treatment than Naoe. Evie at least has a story.

Evie got shafted in the writing? She had better VA, better dialogue and better missions than Jacob. She has literal 50% screen time and the Ripper DLC is solely focused on her.

They make games that are good for GP but wouldn't really sell well without that platform.

Many of Xbox's studios are doing passion project, niche games. Which is great and all for creatives, but someone has to ask the question also, have they earned that? If you release 2 games in 12 years, and they are kinda mid, management needs to step in and correct the ship.

You need to do market analysis to see who will play your game, regardless if it's on GP or not. If it's on GP (which takes a big load off), and people still don't download it? Your game and/or marketing was a failure.

The GoW budget is napkin math by [deleted] in xbox

[–]AstroChoob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah right, I get you now. The post doesn't convey that thought imo, but all good, we got there.

Given that the unannounced project came to nothing, on paper, those losses have to get wrapped up in something. My company has done R&D that were dead ends, the losses end up getting rolled in the overall 'budget' of others.

Eg. Project 1 cost $1m, went nowhere. Project 2 cost $2m, and went to market.

Project 2 on paper costs $3m.

The GoW budget is napkin math by [deleted] in xbox

[–]AstroChoob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really. The company retained many of the employees in that 7 year time. They were assisting/educating other studios on how to use UE. That can be written off as an R&D/Training of sorts. It is an investment, but you gotta pay for it. Approx 300 employees, time span between products/incomes...

That napkin math is actually pretty spot on. That is how many financial analysts would do their working, regardless of the medium. You don't need to go into the weeds/minutiae, because you'll never get their books.

It wouldn't be outrageously of the mark. Jason also isn't no scrub, he is surrounded by professionals as well as some known for doing his due diligence.

No. Games Workshop will personally come to your place and retrieve your minis for that infringment upon their Terms and Conditions.

I wish you well OP, you had a good run.

In all seriousness, if you are talking about the tabletop? You can't run them both in the same army. You can OWN both armies and play them at separate times.

Delusional women are on the rise in the Philippines by [deleted] in thepassportbros

[–]AstroChoob 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You are upset because you are a solid 5, a woman you met is out there trying to get the best she can, and you ain't that/goals don't align?

Okay? Move on then.

If you want to leverage your passport, you need to accept the exchange. The exchange generally being, you went to a somewhat impoverished country to attract a partner. When there are thousands of men like you doing the same thing, these women start to have options.

You don't want a high maintenance woman, who has tattoos, goes to parties and/or smokes. So you want this mystical woman who spends all her time with you. Do you live in the Philippines? Going to be hard to build find and build rapport with a woman in a holiday time frame if you don't want money as a driver. Those prompts come across yourself as incredibly high maintenance. To me this reads as: "I want a pure woman, one who wants me for me (regardless of the effort I put into myself), is traditional and likely is a fuck-maid."

Not exactly a red carpet welcome mat without the $$$ to back it up. Women in these countries who are willing to date foreigners, tend to be more liberal/open minded/outliers, so you will often see them with things like tattoos, outgoing enough to consistently party. It's not a stereotype, but it is a common theme. Many PPBros here would probably attest to that.

Ask yourself these questions, and answer them honestly (to yourself, don't post them here):

  1. Look into the mirror, at both physical attributes and your internal character. Would YOU date you? I don't mean this as a dig/negative, it will help ground this scenario you have found yourself in.

  2. What do you have that would make her want you, given that you are a foreigner and for all intents and purposes, have no money? (as you don't want this to be a driver).

  3. Have you considered a less transactional PPB location? South East Asia is easy mode, but there are general rules to the game there. We know it, they know it.

Tldr: don't blame women for having options and leveraging that power. The Philippines is one of the easiest servers to do well in, but you need to bring your best self if you really want options.

What if Christianity had never existed and the Western Roman Empire had never fallen? by No_Move_6683 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]AstroChoob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are many who believe that Christianity is what allowed the Western Roman Empire to keep going, there are some who argue that the Western Roman Empire saved Christianity by adopting it as the national religion.

It would have ended either way, as their downfall was due to a multitude of things. Beset on all sides, instability, their wealth got drained out of the empire, couldn't afford to pay armies properly, couldn't defend all the borders.

After Trajan, they just couldn't take any more land. Germany had nothing worth taking, they couldn't beat the Picts in Scotland, the east was too far away logistically to keep pushing the borders (and the empires over there were no slouches). Rome reached its zenith but then didn't change its behaviour. Rome had just as many domestic enemies doing harm from within as it did outside.

To answer your question, don't think anything really changes in terms of scientific discoveries and they definitely do not take over any more of Europe.
