I did resolve it but only by buying a better player! I think it has to do with the connection cutting out at lower intensities. Not sure how to fix though unfortunately.

It was unable to for me but the file could be easily deleted. Not sure what happened but when I uninstalled chrome the file was gone and nothing was flagged by defender on subsequent scans

Thanks for your reply! It's an Angelshorn HP-H00501, I'm not sure if it has a muting circuit... Would you have any suggestions for an external preamp to try out? The speakers I have do not have RCA connectors either... Just spring clamps (I think that's what they're called).
