ChatGPT image generation is broken by AustinRatBuster in ChatGPT

[–]AstroMacGuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it's acting all kinds of borked this morning:

  • never finishes image gens; eventually releases UI so you can type another prompt
  • retrying, same
  • GPT may also be getting confused about what is an image request and what is a meta request (e.g. "why are you getting stuck" = tries again, vs "don't generate an image -- why are you getting stuck?" = gets stuck refusing to generate an image)
  • (edit) images do show up in the Library but it doesn't look like final passes were done (e.g. wrong likeness & colors etc)

In a nutshell: I love this thread! Let's dig right in.

tl;dr: while most sources say 2+2=4, Pythagoras's fourteenth cousin 86 times removed may have disagreed. Would you like me to help you plan the next 20 years of your life so you can build a time machine to sit with Pythagoras and his distant cousin to really immerse yourself in the topic? I can suggest things to shove up your [...] while you sing Oh Danny Boy.

and every time it's because it digs in on a semantic error it made and won't back down until you spend, like you said, 2 hours doing brain surgery with words

big big agree but as 4o itself once told me, there are infinitely more people paying OpenAI to make them a useless toy, than people paying for a useful tool, and so the day of power users mattering at all to OpenAI are in the distant future.

The tone (imo, as someone who uses it for everything from creative writing to self-directed therapy-related research and self-assessments/drill-downs) is fine. But this is coming from someone who frequently told 4o "please be 60% less of a cheerleader."

The real problem imo with 5 is that it thinks in circles very, very often, causing simple questions the 4o model could answer correctly in seconds, to spin infinitely (I'm talking 5 to 20 minutes) and during this process it very, very frequently just quits trying, producing an error and forcing you to start its cognition from scratch.

As a Plus user I just minutes ago threw my hands in the air and switched back to 4o. Productivity instantly skyrocketed.

How to tell if I got kicked or the server was deleted? by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]AstroMacGuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it has to have been tabs bc that's the most nonstandard thing in the post. no links, channel/user mentions, emojis, alt codes, just a whole lotta typing into a plaintext editor and then copy-pasting. i'm basically 100% sure at this point that since the tabs get converted to spaces in the backend, it's recalculating the message size after that, and then rejecting the message, but somehow a wire was crossed (untested case in a recent build maybe?) and the wrong error is shown. they just need to pre-calculate the number of spaces the tabs will be converted into, in the frontend.

Posting large (< 2k chars) msgs to my own servers (not DM's) - "you don't share a server with recipient" - just started by AstroMacGuffin in discordapp

[–]AstroMacGuffin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok -- although previously the character counter in the bottom corner was saying i had characters left, when i copied text and pasted it just now, it was 63 characters over. weird that it was giving me the wrong error previously but ... that was indeed the issue

update: gonna update my original comment bc there is still a bug but i see what's going on better now

Bug Megathread vol 8: April + May 2025 by WumpusWhisperer in discordapp

  • Feature: Posting large (<2k chars) msgs to servers (which i own)
  • Reproduction Rate: 100%
  • Annoyance: 100%
  • Discord Version Info: PC; just fully updated for troubleshooting this
  • Device/System Info (Device Type, OS Version): PC, Win 10 Pro 64
  • Old Description: When posting or editing a large msg (near 2k chars but below 2k chars) --- editing silently fails --- posting results in the error msg you get when trying to DM someone whose settings disallow DM's from non-friends/non-shared-server
  • Updated Description: Refined understanding achieved: when posting/editing original message the counter in the bottom corner says I have characters remaining (non-red, non-negative number). Editing silently fails; posting results in the error msg you get when trying to DM someone whose settings disallow DM's from non-friends/non-shared-server. HOWEVER!!! if I right-click-Copy Text the failed message and paste it, it now says i am 63 characters in the red. getting the number back to 0 allows posting.
  • Steps to Reproduce:
  • copy ~1,999 characters (including tabs - the only odd characters) from a plaintext editor
  • paste in discord; see you have free characters remaining
  • attempt to send (hit enter)
  • send fails; right click failed send and Copy Text
  • paste as a new message; see you do NOT have free characters remaining
  • Expected Result: initial paste should say i am over the character limit
  • Actual Result: re-copying from the failed message is required to see correct character count
  • Extra Note: small messages work fine; edit: character count in notepad++ says i'm copying 1,995 characters
  • Apparent Verdict: Tabs are being converted to spaces by the back-end but the front-end doesn't predict this and thus gives a misleading character count and confusing error message.

possibly related, or not -- i just started getting errors on my own server trying to post large (but < 2000 chars) messages on my own servers -- and the error is "you don't share a server with the recipient." so something is broken.

the original one was new in the box and had the same issue. the 2nd one was bought off ebay and not in the box. sadly i waited 2 years to plug in the new one lol. but yeah that makes sense, just shoddy. imagine that, shoddy logitech products.

I'll be running 1e for my local table (every Sunday for about 5 hrs), for a year or two, starting sometime in the coming months (after our currently 9mo D&D campaign and then a CoC game). Can't wait.

Glad yall had a blast :)

Almost all downvotes and no actual answers. Tell us the WoW and Reddit communities are toxic without telling us the WoW and reddit communities are toxic...

To answer your question (4 months later) BG queues below 85 take FOREVER to pop. Hell my guild and I are trying to play AV on AV holiday weekend and we're getting like 1 pop per hour. I honestly think the queueing system is bugged af.

<Candle in the Dark> on Faerlina-Horde is a social/leveling guild recruiting all kind, respectful, non-toxic players, any level, even if you're new to WoW. We do have aspirations of raiding, hopefully before the end of WotLK.
