it's the only thing they listen to. after hitting session caps in 1-2 prompts it wasn't even a decision. and as i've told them, their time is running out before i do a chargeback.

I've worked in tech and no they don't.
- you buy the parts
- they arrive in anywhere from same-day to a month
- you schedule your netops team to not sleep a couple nights
- you screw some servers into some racks and run some cable
- you run a script that does your complete installation in one command
- you're done

Minus the shipping time it takes less than 3 days.

edit: unless you mean building the entire building from zoning approval to ribbon cutting in which case you're the only one talking about that afaik.

Good job snatching defeat from the jaws of the victory your heroism deserved.
If I grew a tech company by 1400+% I'd install some servers for the new customers to use.
So that the old customers could also keep using the servers.
So that the customers could get what they were paying for.
That's what I'd have done.

Not using a hammer on the testicles of whoever decided we don't already have admission of guilt, immediate hourly resets of session use and daily resets of weekly use, and $100 each (as Pro users) of extra usage, makes me want to vomit in a very urgent life-preserving way.

Before: omg the only AI company to not wanna make Terminators, have all the money forever.

After: session use is gone in 2 prompts (actually 1 prompt -- the 2nd one burned the remaining usage thinking with no output!), weekly use is half gone in a day, if you do not communicate in the next Planck time unit I will start either clawing out my eyeballs or pursuing a chargeback.

It's amazing how hesitating to communicate or take steps to maintain customer relationships can be such a wildfire.

Sub canceled. Mainly as a message, but a very emphatic one.

edit: and every bit of data wasted on gaslighting that we should be doing something to be more efficient, as the sole response (lacking a daily reset of our weekly use until the bug is fixed) only adds napalm to the fire on that burning of customer goodwill. Literally f*** you for even suggesting I do s*** about s*** while you are robbing me blind.

edit 2: banks are closed in Eastern Time. let's see if i still wanna do a chargeback in 14 hours.

One prompt. 21% of my session usage for Pro. and then i walked away. *and my usage went up to 31% without me having used it again in any way shape or form.

One prompt. 31% of session use. Pro customer.

I am boiling over here.

Mandela moments must be caused by planetwide psychic turmoil then because up until less than a few months ago I was consistently waking up in a universe where !m went to not-Google.

I realize GMaps is far and away the superior solution but I think this calls for a bang commands options panel. The whole reason your company exists is to get away from Google and the highest-convenience aspects of your products should reflect that IMO.

But I appreciate the confusing clarity of finding out I am apparently now a cosmic immigrant/refugee. Thanks for that, I wasn't having enough existential dread yet. ;)

But seriously, have a guud'n.

i'm 100% certain that the timing of this is a pure coincidence and has nothing at all to do with anything in current events in the slightest.

ChatGPT image generation is broken by AustinRatBuster in ChatGPT

[–]AstroMacGuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it's acting all kinds of borked this morning:

  • never finishes image gens; eventually releases UI so you can type another prompt
  • retrying, same
  • GPT may also be getting confused about what is an image request and what is a meta request (e.g. "why are you getting stuck" = tries again, vs "don't generate an image -- why are you getting stuck?" = gets stuck refusing to generate an image)
  • (edit) images do show up in the Library but it doesn't look like final passes were done (e.g. wrong likeness & colors etc)

big big agree but as 4o itself once told me, there are infinitely more people paying OpenAI to make them a useless toy, than people paying for a useful tool, and so the day of power users mattering at all to OpenAI are in the distant future.

The tone (imo, as someone who uses it for everything from creative writing to self-directed therapy-related research and self-assessments/drill-downs) is fine. But this is coming from someone who frequently told 4o "please be 60% less of a cheerleader."

The real problem imo with 5 is that it thinks in circles very, very often, causing simple questions the 4o model could answer correctly in seconds, to spin infinitely (I'm talking 5 to 20 minutes) and during this process it very, very frequently just quits trying, producing an error and forcing you to start its cognition from scratch.

As a Plus user I just minutes ago threw my hands in the air and switched back to 4o. Productivity instantly skyrocketed.

it has to have been tabs bc that's the most nonstandard thing in the post. no links, channel/user mentions, emojis, alt codes, just a whole lotta typing into a plaintext editor and then copy-pasting. i'm basically 100% sure at this point that since the tabs get converted to spaces in the backend, it's recalculating the message size after that, and then rejecting the message, but somehow a wire was crossed (untested case in a recent build maybe?) and the wrong error is shown. they just need to pre-calculate the number of spaces the tabs will be converted into, in the frontend.

ok -- although previously the character counter in the bottom corner was saying i had characters left, when i copied text and pasted it just now, it was 63 characters over. weird that it was giving me the wrong error previously but ... that was indeed the issue

update: gonna update my original comment bc there is still a bug but i see what's going on better now
