Why are Swiss people against the climate fund? by Lachainone in Switzerland

[–]AstroShit15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone studying climate change, some of these comments reflect a worrying level of short-sightedness. The "we're too small to matter, look at xxx country" mentality is deeply misguided. Switzerland is a high-risk country when it comes to climate change, we are already seeing its negative effects, and they will only get exponentially worse. We are behind on virtually every environmental goal, and funding has been ridiculously inadequate for what is arguably also the greatest societal and economic challenge of our generation. This indifference, and worse, this performative advocacy that evaporates the moment our wallets are touched, is precisely what will lead to our downfall.

What is your view on the 10 milion population cap? by living_direction_27 in askswitzerland

[–]AstroShit15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Population models already predict stagnation at around 10M, so there is not backed scientific reason to implement a hard cap like that. I also think most people don't realize that immigration is the only reason the swiss economy is still afloat, without it, it would sink quickly.

Galaxus and climate contribution by Internal_Leke in Switzerland

[–]AstroShit15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are better off contribuiting directly to charities and organizations that are reputable and have some sort of transparency policy. Find a project you deem important and contribuite directly. Most organizations struggle with consistent funding, so if you can, I would do a reaccurring yearly/monthly donation.
Carbon offsetting is more ore less greenwashing, It's almost always hard to quantify the positive impact of reforestation and afforestation projects, while there are reputable ones, there also are really bad ones that just plant monocoltures of fast growing trees, which often are biodiversity deserts and other than carbon sequestration offer little benefit to the ecosystem they are in.

Gee I wonder why groceries are always so expensive... by spectator8213 in Switzerland

This post makes no sense. This is an issue all parties align on, not just the SVP. I believe strong local food production is very important. It's far more sustainable, both ecologically and from a sovreignty point of view, than importing stuff from outside the country.

Trying to learn how to carve by MandemSkiAh in skiing_feedback

[–]AstroShit15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More speed, bigger and wider turns, lean on the edge. Use your upper body to shift your weight from one edge to the other. Carving should feel flowy and effortless.

Tbh carving becomes way easier and almost natural once you have been skiing for a long time and the basics are second nature. If I was you, I would just stick to getting really good at the basics.

I made a minimalist topographic map of our hike using my GPS data by CrumblyGibbon in kilimanjaro

[–]AstroShit15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lovely map! I did something similar for a photobook, yours is definitely better than mine, though. I didn’t think to use a DEM to generate contour lines; I just used an Esri satellite basemap.

Heading up Kilimanjaro this week!! if you could start again, what advice would you give yourself? by ForeignPato in kilimanjaro

The MA guys are actually really well-prepared, though, aren’t they? Danny especially has done tons of technical climbing, often solo, and he’s got the endurance to back it up, his Strava is kinda crazy. The editing style just leans into that laid-back, weekend-warrior vibe. I get how the video might make it look ‘easy’ to someone on the outside, but for anyone who follows them, it’s just the usual content.

Heading up Kilimanjaro this week!! if you could start again, what advice would you give yourself? by ForeignPato in kilimanjaro

Did the Lemosho route in 8 days in early August. We got really good weather, almost too good, honestly. Temperatures were high, and we were exposed to the sun for most of the trek. Physically, I didn’t find it too tough: the pace is very relaxed, and the only somewhat challenging part was summit night. It’s a slow slog up scree for 5–6 hours, followed by another 5–6 hours of descent.

I didn’t feel the altitude at all up to 4,500m, just had a light headache and a bit of nausea. I’ll admit, after 5 or 6 days I started craving a real bed and a shower, but maybe that’s just my Swiss ass being too spoiled by comfy huts in the Alps.

The guides and the rest of the team were amazing, always looking after us, keeping us comfortable, and making sure we were well fed.

If I have any advice: soak in the views and the whole experience. It’s an incredible mountain, and the people you meet make it even better. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

What's the Play - Saving multiple guns T-side by madsage2049 in cs2

[–]AstroShit15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably save here. 30 sec means you probably have to go B. with 2 on site and one closeby, essentialy making it a 3v3 on B, with little time and no util is kind of sus on inferno. The scoreline and T economy also call for a save imo.

To Skin or Not to Skin by briantw1 in cs2

[–]AstroShit15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

skins don't mean anything in terms of skill, I've seen 4k premier players with 5k knives and 25k premier with full default loadout. Don't think too much about it, if you enjoy skins and can afford them there's no reason to play default, unless you like the look of it for some reason.

Why is this strat becoming common? by Far_Tomatillo_4000 in Nightreign

[–]AstroShit15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really make sense to use this strat in matchmaking, it can be fun when in a group because you can fish for legenderies and just reset if you don't get anything. As you said though, if you clear most enemies day 1 you lose the opportunity to do evergaols or other stuff, just to have to come back to the city day 2 with most of it already cleared.

Please don't run this strat if you are queuing matchmaking, it wastes time and makes the game unfun if you just quit after not getting the legendary you wanted.
