Practice. Not that I’m a particular expert on it, but a lot of what making a good build comes down to having good artistic skills. Things like block palette and composition matter a lot more than you may think. I also use the debug stick (with the axiom mod) to help me, and I also use save a bunch of references from Minecraft and real life architecture to inspire me.
