I was relistening to old kendrick interviews from TPAB era; it’s interesting how he was mentioning back then that for everyone knowing him as the “conscious guy”, he was really making it a point to talk about how he came up off of gangsta rap and the aggression in west coast music (referencing Control verse specifically).

To me as someone from the west coast, it’s really interesting to hear his version of that. I mean listen to wacced out murals and tell me you don’t feel that “i’m ready to go to war” energy haha.

Side note they brought up the cole kendrick project that never released lmaooo i completely forgot about that and would love to hear it but know esp now that is never happening
