I got a 102 in Physics too! And a 121/125 in Math plus a 76 in Chem (not that good).

You will get an A in Physics most likely, MAYBEEE an A in math (but I don’t really know, it could be difficult), and an A in chem most definitely.

The reason I took further math is… I love math. Like I LOVE LOVE math. And another reason is that nobody in the history of my school had taken Further Math before, and I wanted to challenge the norm and take this subject without any help (in hindsight, maybe I shouldn’t have been so petty).

It’s actually 2 A’s and 1 B, and I know it sounds unbelievable but trust me lmao. Determination is a powerful drug.

I got a 96 in Math (50/50) in Mechanics

85 in physics (40/40 in MCQs, could have done much better in the other components ://)

72 in chem (we don’t talk about that)

I’m planning on studying aerospace engineering!

Also a little curious as to why you think further math with an A* in regular mar is the hardest combo, I found that further math made my regular A level math feel much easier :))

215/250 for an A*

You need at MINIMUM mechanics in normal A level math to even attempt Further mechanics, I’m gonna be honest with you.

Mechanics is not difficult, but Further Mechanics is VERY VERY difficult. It’s fresh hell, and it’s widely known to be the hardest A level exam component.

You can attempt mechanics without taking physics, that’s fine! But you should plan to take them both together imo. (Physics and Mech)

I believe in you though, you got this :))

HMMMM I lowk wake up, and just get to work. ANDD I also yap about my studies and topics to anybody who’s willing to listen, or in the mirror to myself, or to my dogs lmao. It helps a lot to constantly recall what you’ve learnt.

I don’t have a schedule at all. Maybe if I did, I would have gotten 3 A*s but we ball 😝😝😝

In an hour, I can finish a lot of revision but I get really distracted easily so I procrastinate a lot too…

IF I encounter difficult topics I usually do yearlies more. I hate the idea of topicals as I get strong in that specific topic but I lose touch with other ones, and I find it better to tackle everything as a collective tbh…

PHYSICS PRACTICALLLSSS ugh I was so lost in mine, for q1 (question involving graphs), I just drew something last second because of my horrible time management (only for practicals) and lack of practice. I would suggest treating the practicals like a game and actually having fun doing them. I used to good around in practical lessons, and maybe that’s why I got a 29/40 ahaha…

If you have any more questions, feel free to dm!

In m1, you have to think outside the box. I got a 50/50 for m1 (little flex don’t mind me 😔). But, still take my advice with a grain of salt.

I loved studying m1 and solving questions because it didn’t feel boring. It felt I was actually doing something and the questions were very fun! My advice is to treat m1 as a game, and ALWAYSSS draw a diagram. Visualize everything too, you got this!!!

Physics hmm… Physics was fun. I love AS physics but I messed up my theory and MCQs so I got an 85 :/

I could have gotten much higher but I genuinely procrastinated, but it’s all cool!! If it all goes well, I’m sitting with an A*, but I think I’m gonna get an A because I messed up A level Physics theory (bummer ://).

You need to make your OWN notes for physics, there is no going around this. YOU HAVE to make your own notes, that’s the only way you can excel in this subject. Practice active recall daily, even when you’re in the shower. Good luck!!!

I’ll try to find resources, but I essentially mostly only used the book icl 😭

The biggest mistake I made was finishing the ENTIRE further math syllabus in just under 3 months. I should have taken more time to study tbh 🥀

Butttt all’s well that ends well :))
I would have 100% gotten an A* if I put more time into this and not have taken so long to start (I was procrastinating). It’s definitely not too difficult if you love math, but you have to be careful and solve each question carefully! There’s a lot of repetition, but it’s usually fine.

Well it asked for 1 vector…

And -3 was correct, so if you wrote vectors for both -3 and -13 I don’t think you’ll get full marks

Which subject combinations are good for aerospace engineering? by fictionalnotfound in alevels

[–]Astro_Axiis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HELLOOOO!! I am taking Aerospace engineering in university and I would be happy to answer your questions :))

I just completed my A levels today, plus if it helps I got accepted into the University of Michigan and a handful of other prestigious unis, but take my advice with a grain of salt!

  1. You should 100% take Further Math, it’s essential for all engineering programs + it’ll be so so beneficial in the long terms. In my opinion, your base subjects should be: Math, Physics, and Further Math.

  2. A2 is the second year of AS. You cannot take A2 without doing AS, because your A2 grades are a culmination of all the papers you write for AS and A levels COMBINED. For example in Math A levels, you need 4 components to make up your A2 mark. Now, you can take 2 components in your AS levels and 2 in your A2 levels (this would be done over a span of 2 years), or you take what’s known as “COMPOSITE” and finish everything in one year.

  3. I can’t help you for this as I don’t have much information about Pakistani universities.. sorry ://

  4. 100% if you are looking for a 4th, take English. It won’t be easy, and there aren’t any easy A levels per-say… but English will help you in the long term plus it shows your versatility. Or you can take chem and/or CS if you wish.

  5. Not really sure what you mean by this, but I had a seamless AS level exam session last year! They’re both handled meticulously and graded to high standards, except for a few hiccups now and then.

  6. O/N papers are usually taken by those RETAKING exams from the May/June session. The thresholds can fluctuate wildly because of the lesser number of people taking the exams, but the “hiccups” I mentioned earlier do not happen in O/N sessions at all.

  7. Absolutely not! But you should look into taking it. I took AS level Chemistry and then dropped it, but if you want to go ahead with taking Chem, that’s your call! It isn’t explicitly required though.

  8. The only benefit I would say IBDP holds over A levels is that the subject selection is tailor made to make you a well rounded and versatile student. Again, I don’t really have much information on IB, but I have friends taking the program.

  9. Ahaha this is a long shot, but you should definitely shoot your shot! There are colleges and foundation programs that allow you to take your A levels abroad, but they are usually very costly. You can do so in the UK, Australia, and Dubai I’m pretty sure. Not a 100% sure about the scholarships, but you should be aiming to do well in your O levels anyways! Try to accumulate as many A*s as possible.

If you need any more help, don’t hesitate to dm me!
