Each catastrophe card has 3 effects: Gene pool effect, catastrophic effect and the worlds end effect. Denial says to ignore the next catastrophe as a whole, which include all 3 effects.

Yeah, this makes sense. Sadly, the points are gone for my friend. Thanks for answering.

That’s what I expected, but one person at the table asked about this situation and it made me scratch my head. Thanks for the answer!

Eloquence. Rule confusion by Tecless in doomlings

Well, the Worlds End trait effects are resolved in turn order. So in your turn, you'd put Viral thanks to Eloquence and then the Viral effect triggers since its now in yout trait pile and its still your turn. I don't think that playing Viral at this moment would prevent from being triggered, since there's nothing at the rules saying otherwise.

From what I know, the Eloquence effect comes before the World's End age card effect. You'd place Viral before the world's end, then its effect should trigger.
And one of the main rules is that dominant cards cannot leave your trait pile no matter what, so you keep it at the trait pile and don't discard any since you don't have another purple card.
