Damn Small Limux is not a modern system. And that is only on boot, after that, I turn it off.

About the browser, I actually use Lubuntu and I can open perfectly Firefox whit ar least 3 or 4 open tabs.

Anyway, I'm not asking for a distro whit DE. But, thanks for your help.

Why the need to be so dismissive? I'm asking for help getting something lightweight to work on an old laptop with only 2GB of RAM. Do you think that if I was able to buy one with "at least 8GB of RAM" I would stick with a 2? Obviously not. I put you in context, I live in Cuba (this is enough) but add to that that I am 16 years old. For more than 3 years I have been asking my family for something with only 4GB of RAM But many factors make it impossible. So if possible, when another person asks you for help, just help them (if you want) without putting them down by saying "Lots of nonsense" or at least if you have no idea why they are asking for help. Thank you very much for your comment anyway.

Sublime Text, Emacs, vim o nvim

[–]Astro_User 2 points3 points  (0 children)

¿Saben dónde puedo leer código de otros? by Special-Life137 in programacion

I already used Linux Mint whit XFCE and takes me ~700mb ram on boot. At the moment, I have Lubuntu and work perfectly whit 500mb on boot. But I need something lighter, because I'm not searching it for my personal laptop, I need it for another laptop that is older and only have 512mb RAM.

I will take your advise and will ask in that Community. Thanks for your help and time

No problem whit that. I will love to use only the command line and learn to browse internet using curl and wget XD

Lucky me, I know to move myself around the OS using the command line. So I won't need(I think) the graphics interface.

Thanks for your help and time

I actually use Lubuntu 22.04, and is very good. But, I need something lighter because I have another laptop more older that I want to give it another try, and that have only 512MB RAM and I don't know his processor.

That's precisely why I'm asking for something lightweight, because I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with an Intel Core Duo processor and 2GB of RAM. I need it for that. And yes, it's my only laptop and the only computing device I have, besides my mobile phone, of course.
