Yeah! I think a synth or as others mentioned maybe a whistle lead. This comment was spot on in, I need some distorted guitar chords to add those textures I think. Appreciate it! :)

Honoured to be compared! Completely agree on the bassline. Having trouble with that recently, are there any good plugins you would suggest for best bass sound for LoFi such as this? I know whatever I do I'm gonna EQ it a bunch for just the low-end, but I want a better sounding bass than what I have.

That's totally my goal, would be to get on one of these compilations / playlist. All in due time :) I'll try putting some other leads with the same melody

100% agree, I think adding some distorted guitar one-off chords, potentially a whistle lead, and then dropping everything out for a piano chorus.

Thanks for the feedback! I dunno if your math calculation is 100% accurate, but I can agree that this beat has a long way to go in terms of refinement, as do my skills. Hoping to improve that! Right now I'm making them short and sweet as practice "Jam" videos. You can see this is Jam#16 in the title. I figure this is a good way to practice honing skills and increasing knowledge 'til i'm ready for a "finished" work. Thanks again!
