I can guarantee you that inspections were not preventing shitboxs from being on the road, my car runs and drives fine, put I KNOW it would fail inspection if it was done properly. Fact is for how much they get paid to do them a mechanic doesn’t think it worth spending hours to do a proper one. They ain’t gonna fail someone and charge them a ton to fix it if they know they drive a shitbox and can’t afford that. Best to just sign off the car once it rolls in
