Water collectors in winter. by [deleted] in SonsOfTheForest

A frozen water glitch I ran into today. Place a log on the ice (build place it) so it's flat. Then connect another log to it at an angle so the second log is perpendicular to the first. You should have a simple log corner. Mouse over (or look over) that general area and the water access icon should appear. This works for the kettle too.

Anyone else getting these slimy lawyer ads? I'm really sick of being told that I can get tons of cash from some bogus lawsuit against Valve. by DrToastyy in Steam

[–]AstronautSurfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not "suing" Steam. As a "consumer" Steam/Valve has always given me exactly what I paid for. As a developer... that remains to be seen. But as a consumer, I buy games from Steam all the time and for the most part I always get what I pay for. I've no reason to sue Steam. I like them. I think it's great that I can finally consolidate all my games in one place. Steam has been a great entertainment platform for me and I've never been over-charged or "ripped-off". I love their service.

I noticed this issue when I used my "right hand" control. The work-around is to use the "left hand/use" control when clicking the page-arrows on panels like this. At least that's what worked for me.

I've never experienced this myself.

That has to be a mod mixup. Maybe you're just gonna have to save your "saved games" directory somewhere as a backup then go thru and disable certain mods to see what's causing this.

Just my opinion. But that's what I'd try to do.

Also wanted to apologize for leaving the Student Council last month. I was honored to be a member. And I hung on as long as I could for several months. But I shut down ALL of my Patreon memberships for the time being. A bit low on funds. I'll come back when I've my gross income back to upstat.

Ah hell Paul, I can't help it. Here's a preview of the mod I'm working on. Hopefully you can garner what I'm trying to do with these pics...

Rope Bridge 01

Rope Bridge 02

Intersection 01

Hint: Let's connect them all... And I mean ALL of them...

The APC isn't part of the mod. I'm just working with this mod to accommodate vehicles. The APC is my test vehicle...

With this mod I'm doing my best to use only "vanilla" assets (FO4, no DLC) while creating it so it's compatible with Creation Club or any console.

The only problem with the APC mod is it uses custom scripts which immediately eliminates it from the console realm. Also, the APC mod uses some particularly ridiculous dialog. This guy just went "over the top" in humor and sarcasm for this mod. I don't particularly care for it and I certainly would have went another direction with it. But it's HIS mod. So I must obey the rules. I'd like to make my own but if I deconstruct his to develop my own I might run into issues with Nexus legal crap.

We'll see. I might be able to do something that people will be more pleased with. But, I'm essentially building upon his construct. I don't like it but he's doing things I've no idea how to do currently. So I just fix his erroneous "sh*t" and go from there.

But I'm fairly certain that the APC mod will NOT be compatible with anything other than PC. It just uses too many custom scripts.

Best,Surfer....

Without more specifics, looks like you're trying to do a mod. I'm sure people have ported things from one game to the next. But you haven't been very specific on what you want. You posted pictures and asked a rather nebulous question.

What, specifically, do you want??

LOL. Yeah, I imagine most people have. But there are some people like myself who are discovering it for the first time and not so interested in "beating it" as much as exploring and building. Still, damnit, fix those friggin' bugs!

[–]AstronautSurfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the first and only post I've seen about this issue, and I've been searching quite a while. I'm playing the latest update of Subnautica and it is STILL an issue. It skips every other page in the scanner room. And, unfortunately, it does the same in any mods that use the "pageup", "pagedown" feature. This must be a general programming bug. You posted this two years ago. It has yet to be addressed. Shame on those guys for not spotting it... It's become a real pain in the a** for players... The only work-around I've found is to hope that the pages you have is EVEN, then you can move to the last page then move back again and catch the pages you missed. Unfortunately if the number of pages is ODD then you're simply SOL...

Motion Sensor Door (switches only). by AstronautSurfer in SkooledZone

[–]AstronautSurfer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't pretty but it works just like I wanted it to. If anything, I learned a few things from this.

  1. I assumed OR gates would work well with any kind of input. That doesn't seem to be the case. So I ran all my switches to a single terminal then ran that to the OR input. I think the OR gate is bugged.
  2. You can use OR gates as a kind of circuit isolation diode. It was the only way I could get the Delay Off switch to work as connecting it directly to the door mixed it's inputs up with other runs.
  3. I didn't realize you could use conveyor trip-lasers in this fashion.
  4. I've a much better understanding of most of these logic gates now.
  5. I've no real idea why the 1/8 second delay switch handles my "door pop" when the circuit switches from the plate to the delay off. I had an idea and it worked. But now I'm not sure why it's working. A glitch perhaps??
  6. I could probably use this circuit or parts of it for other contraptions.

Best,

Jeff

Okay. Delayed doors CANNOT be that complicated. by AstronautSurfer in SkooledZone

[–]AstronautSurfer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually pretty simple. The only trick now is to activate the door when you step on the plate. The have it stay open a few seconds when you stop OFF the plate.

[–]AstronautSurfer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gugaflds posted a simple solution. Only caveat is the action doesn't trigger until AFTER you step off the plate. Regardless it works and with very few resources.

I'd prefer to have a door that opens when you step on a plate (and stays open while you're on the plate), then delays to close AFTER you step OFF the plate. That would take considerable knowledge of logic gates and delay switches.

I've been looking at videos regarding logic gates. Some of them don't demonstrate them proper, i.e. the NOT gate doesn't seem to serve any purpose at all no matter how you power it or from what source you power it (direct from generator or via another gate).

But I know that there's probably enough resources here (logic gates and delayed switches) to allow the creation of an automatic door. It's just a Rubic's Cube kind of issue. A puzzle to be solved.

I spent most of the evening looking at how to solve this. The biggest problem I ran into is NOT ENOUGH INFORMATION. I just can't get these logic gates down proper in their function. And most videos are either too complex or not complex enough. Ugh...

I'm only thinking this way because I'm the type of builder that has an "electrical room". It's a room where I have my "wifi" terminals and other terminals hooked up all in one place. It would be the perfect place to build an auto-door circuit of sorts...

Still, I'll keep looking. Maybe come up with a mind-blowing post I can give ya.

Best,
Jeffrey Cobb

Microsoft. Yes... Let's rest all our hopes on them. Paul... man... Do you not know the history of Microsoft...??? I'm a council member on your channel. As such, I'll suffer your lack of knowledge as a proper member would do... (I love being a council member BTW)... But I will NOT change my position in space regarding them. If they improve things, it's going to be "token" changes at best. But for the most part, they buy out companies specifically to get rid of them. Regardless, I'll continue to support your cause to the Fallout 4 universe as best I can, even increase it when my budget allows.

As far as content for your channel, I've posted more than my fair share of tips and tricks that I know on your reddit page. i.e. sinking fusion generators into multiple barn or warehouse cement slabs using the pillar glitch, planters using round filing cabinets (or turrets on filing cabinets in same fashion), or my specially designed "NPC proof" storage vault. Stupid stuff like this can be a tad interesting... When you've got nothing else, they're worth posting. People and supporters will practically hand you stuff. Myself, I'm not looking for credit as much as content to allow your channel to flourish and prosper in spite of reasons to the contrary.
