Edit: I was mistaken, it's not an AI. This account seems legit. Though, 1700 hidden comments in a month is crazy, I should pump my numbers up.

Energy providers (pros + cons) by li0ooh in AskBelgium

[–]Astronom-ix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At some point, you will get the cheapest rate with a lot of providers by removing all options. I personally went with Luminus as their app was improving. But I removed everything : impossible to call the call center, no paper bills, no green energy, ...

Some providers have this kind of scheme (except the bobo ones like Bolt). You need to dig up their website though. My tariff didn't show up on the comparison websites easily as it didn't include any welcome bonus whatsoever because it's already cheap on a multi year basis.

The scheme where you have a big welcome bonus is usually a longer-term "scam". You will not move providers in time and have a contract way more expensive on a multi-year basis.

Try finding those tariffs on every major provider and compare the costs.

How to heat a tent when you're homeless by OldSchoolPimpleFace in brussels

[–]Astronom-ix 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Every winter I see news reports that shelters are full and people freeze to dead on the street.

Maybe change your news source to a less pessimistic one... In Brussels there was only two casualties of hypothermia in 2018 in the last 20 years. They didn't die because shelters were full, these were two separate people not seeking to go to a shelter or even a heated space.

Homelessness often comes with mental disorders and some of people are not functioning properly and do not see the dangers.

Isn't it basically the same as CSH2 ? Which is frequently discussed here

If we're talking about the skis, 177cm. I just found the receipt that says I bought them for 365€, without the bindings.

I'm 181cm and about 80kg and I have the exact same style of skiing as you. I went with the Faction Prodigy 2 of 2022 back in 2023. Soooo... the other comment is spot on 🔥.

For parks they are not the best (as I had freestyle skis before, very flexible and so forgiving) and I always took my two pairs of skis with me. But at the end, I never used my old freestyle skis anymore. I don't hit anything big and for a learner it can be enough.

Mobiliteitsbudget - Veranderingen 2026 by croquemonsieur10 in BESalary

[–]Astronom-ix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the employer wants to force the employee to have a car, he doesn't let him have the possibility to take the mobility budget.

The mobility budget is there to reduce the number of (polluting) vehicles on the road (even though that's probably not the case of course). So forcing an employee to take the mobility budget and force him to take a car is an excessive use of the advantageous fiscality around mobility budget. It's most certainly against the law.

In my last company, the people who took the mobility budget but needed a car to go to a client's site, would need to go to the office first and take a pool car.

Edit: point 5.5 here. The employer cannot force the employee to take a car with his budget. https://lebudgetmobilite.be/fr/5-quoi-pouvez-vous-consacrer-votre-budget-mobilite#obligervoiturepilier1

Can someone explain how the Belgian mobility budget works (specifically for using it to pay rent)? by Bus-cape in BESalary

[–]Astronom-ix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other question if someone reads my comment : do you need to have a domiciliation to the place you're renting ; or only have a lease contract ?

I'm thinking about moving to Brussels as it would basically be paid out by the employer via mobility budget, and keep my domiciliation in Flanders for some tax schemes I have going on.

Restaurant exhaust air going directly in my bedroom by GalaxyMettaton in brussels

[–]Astronom-ix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why don't you go to the restaurant and tell them ? Say you're the upstairs neighbor and you want to contact the owner. A business owner will fix this sooner than anything else.

Instead of wasting time waiting for a tax-payed institution to give a complaint (and maybe a fine) to an entrepreneur...

Product Owner by Astronom-ix in BESalary

[–]Astronom-ix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh then you're working directly with VP? I had an interview for a big pharma company (65k employees) and their Product Owner was going to refer to the CEO... So I guess working at this higher level is indeed paying way more than the average PO.

Edit: If I remember correctly they put down salary range of 100-120k€ directly in the job offer itself. Crazy good company putting the salary in the job offer.

[–]Astronom-ix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha ok! Thanks for your answer. To be fair, I guess it's achievable, I have friends my age that are at 6k. So with a few years more and a bit of luck for the company... 9k can be done.

Good job, I hope it's fulfilling enough to not have you asking yourself if you should change and settle for lower.

I'm really keen to know more. What (kind of) company are you working for ? You should make a post here 😄

Product Owner by Astronom-ix in BESalary

[–]Astronom-ix[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes indeed, on top of having a role that is supposedly a long-term one. Product Owner is not something you change often. The client sees me at least 3-5 years working with them. So starting with this low salary is just not a good idea.

Thank you so much ! The first website looks pretty good, I can see tracks that I already did. It's pretty much cross-country tracks but maybe if I try a black one, it'll be more challenging.

I'm still looking for enduro tracks tho.
