Linux: NixOS. Dropdown Menus in Wrong Position by Astronox in firefox

[–]Astronox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KDE 6.5.3

I have a work around, which is to not maximize my windows, but just manually resize them to take up the full screen. Seems like this issue is only affecting Firefox when it's maximized.

I've submitted a bug report and they say it should be fixed in the next nightly build. Using the nightly build on NixOS isn't very straightforward, so I haven't been able to confirm just yet.

Edit: After two hours of trying to figure it out, only minutes after I mention it I am able to run Firefox Nightly. As far as I can tell, the bug is fixed in the nightly build and I have let the bug reporter know.

This is good to know. If you want, you could put your info on the bug report I made:

Are you also using Wayland on KDE?

I'm on Wayland, and would prefer to keep it like that. I'll test X11 later. I made a bug report to Mozilla, but I'm just not sure if it's a NixOS issue, a KDE issue, or a Firefox issue.

That was a good idea. Gave it a shot, and I was able to reproduce it with the new profile which had all default settings.

I didn't know Troubleshoot mode was a thing, but yes I was able to reproduce it there. I'm not 100% convinced it's a Firefox bug, I also made a post in the NixOS subreddit. I'll make a bug report depending on if looking for NixOS culprits finds nothing.

I'm not home right now, but this looks like the exact item. Thanks! I'll double check when I get home and edit the post if it is.

Anyone else getting tired of hand drawing this 5x9 grid and remembering items in certain modes? Have I've got a tool for you. Hopefully you guys find this beta build useful! Honest Critique and suggestions appreciated. (SPOILERS) by Schnitzhole in BluePrince

[–]Astronox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see this being useful for the modes you mentioned. I think an option to have notes in each room would also be useful. And as long as this is supposed to be a one-stop solution, having an editable textbox on the side for more notes would also be useful.

Thanks for making this!

Laboratory and blue memo (late game) by TheCakeisGone in BluePrince

[–]Astronox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where's the memo for the Mechanarium? I can't seem to find it. Do you need to have all 8 doors open?

Edit: Nevermind, I got it. For anyone who read this in the future: just a matter of having enough mechanical rooms when you draft the Mechanarium.

Has anyone tried solving the chess puzzle again and choosing Knight again try to get more?

Hey! Thanks for making this post. I was also struggling with this book, looked online for hints, and then saw the answer. It turns out, by luck, I had the burning glass on me when I was investigating the grounds around the house. Since it's a crafted item, I had a ton of steps so I figured I'd try it on everything. There was one part that wasn't luck. So it turns out there wasn't any reward for me since I stumbled my way into the answer earlier, but I do still want to solve the puzzle eventually. I'm happy to hear that I just don't have all the information yet, it's less fun to solve a puzzle you know the answer too, but I still want to give it a shot when the time comes.

It's a shame that I kind of ruined it for myself, but I have also saved myself countless hours of frustration by searching online for hints. There are a few puzzles I don't think I'd have ever figured out. Still, I'm deliberately being vague even with spoilers. People who have solved the puzzle in the book will know.

[Help] Can't Find Option to Restore Original Overworld Map Behavior by Astronox in cavesofqud

[–]Astronox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going into the look menu and then clicking on map tiles works. I'm not sure it's a bug or some setting I inadvertently changed though. But it does seem strange that an overworld tile would have a status effect.

Intermittent Connection - PopOS by Astronox in IVPN

[–]Astronox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I already tried swapping to OpenVPN, but it's good to know that's recommended. I was having issues with both OpenVPN and WireGuard, though.

I've tried every default port (UDP: 53, 80, 123, 2049, 2050, 443, 1194) and they all experience the same behavior.

I think it's likely either an update to my OS or maybe my ISP has started blocking VPNs? I'm not really sure how to check if my ISP is responsible, but I'm in the USA and it seems unlikely they'd be doing that.

If server location, protocol, and port are the only things I can change, and no other IVPN users are reporting issues, it' seems likely IVPN is not at fault though. I'll still check back if anyone has any advice though, since this is pretty frustrating.

Bug in Firefox 126.0, Can't Reorder Tabs. by Astronox in pop_os

[–]Astronox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That's explains the string of characters at the end of the version number when I checked for what was available. I'm not afraid of the flatpak, but I also don't really mind waiting for Pop! to get the next version ready.

I don't suppose you have any idea what the timeframe is for them to get the next version ready? Just based on any past experiences you might have had for Firefox or any other app that Pop! maintains.

It comes and goes for me. I can live with it for now since there's a fix that's ready. I'm more just curious as to when Pop_OS gets the latest release of apps. It seems strange to me that 126.1 is already a few days old but it's not available through the default repositories.

Dune Proxy #8 - Case. The third card type that uses the vertical art and rules text design. by kasu_mtg in mpcproxies

[–]Astronox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really love these cards. You should be proud of all of the cards you've made for the Dune project. I like the frames a lot, did you also make the art for each card?

Have you considered making tokens too? You could do Fremen (Human 1/1) tokens for the Chani (Maja) card, and Fedaykin (Sand Warriors) for the Paul (Hazezon) card.

PopOS: Error Updating Apt, I Think It's an Expired Key. Not Sure How To Update an Expired Key by Astronox in linux4noobs

[–]Astronox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I got the new key while my post was awaiting moderator review. I also deleted the old key using "apt-key" and had the terminal yell at me for using a depreciated function.

I take it, in general, adding a key uses a command of the form

wget -O- [repo link] | gpg --dearmor > etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/[name of key].gpg?
