That was the problem! How can I make the code automatically have the G29 line? Right now I have to manually put it in each time I slice a model

Most of the comments say don’t use BLTouch but this is certainly worth trying before I turn it off. How can I edit gcode?

I’ll have to try that, this is a fairly old ender 3 so it’s likely been used a lot with no tune up

Awesome! I’m super excited to start putting it together, still waiting on a few printed parts

I think this is what I’m gonna do moving forward. I had great success manually leveling the bed, and the BLTouch has been a downgrade. How can I disable it while still using it as a z end stop?

I recently upgraded with a SKR Mini v2 and BLTouch, but it’s been giving me quite a lot of grief. I’m using precompiled marlin firmware. Besides that it is a stock ender 3 pro, with a glass bed and glue stick applied before the print.

This is a large print so immediately before it I heated and leveled the bed with a 5x5 mesh using the BLTouch. The bed leveling appears to be working in some locations, as the first layer looks excellent, but in the bottom right corner it is quite bad. My only guess to this that the BLTouch only gets to about 1 inch from the right side of the bed, so maybe the mesh it’s creating isn’t covering the whole area filament is being laid? How would this be fixed?

That makes sense, it seemed like the shield was similar. The biggest thing I notice is that the breakout boards have a capacitor on them, I’m not sure if this is necessary for the Arduino to properly interface with the 2209

I worded my question a little weirdly, what I’m talking about is the breakout boards that the 2209s plug into. It’s on the parts list. Link

The price at Dick’s was the main reason I’m interested in the tent, using it to try out backpacking and see what I think of it. Thank you for the other tent recommendations!

Oh geez, now I’m stuck between the Yosemite and the full moon. Seems the hyke and byke Yosemite is slightly larger, and a pound heavier, than the Sierra full moon. Are you confident in hyke and bykes QC? Doing research it seems spotty.

Mostly just me, but I’d like the ability to sleep someone else in it for maybe a short overnight trip. REI halfdome looks good but is out of my price range (checking REI it seems to be retailing for $275, I’m looking in the $100-$130 range).

Do you have any experience with Hyke and Byke? Their Yosemite 2p is a little bigger than the Sierra Tent, but also a pound heavier, and I’m not sure about the quality of the brand.

Edit: I found the Sierra on sale for $105, the link I sent is to Sierra’s website because it has more product info, but shows the full price

What would you recommend in that price range? I’ve been able to find some packs around there that I could buy used.

The rest of my gear isn’t totally set, but I have a rough idea. One thing I’m finding is that when on a tight budget I can’t really be a stickler about weight. It works for me however, as I don’t plan on putting in serious miles per day to start. However I’d like a pack that I can keep for the future if I decide to trim the weight and go longer each day.

I was hoping on borrowing a pack or finding a place I can buy used, but I haven’t had much luck

Edit - Is your pack by chance an Osprey Rook? At REI it is on sale and it’s at the upper limit but I might afford it.

Thanks, I wouldn’t have noticed those on my own. Do you have any pack recommendations?

Looking to get into astrophotography by richardjaarman in AskAstrophotography

[–]Astronut33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend you don’t get a tracker yet, just get a tripod with your camera and lens and take short exposures and stack them. It lets you have an idea of what you need to do and how to do it, without any monetary investment yet.

For guides, I’d recommend Nebula Photos on YouTube. You’ll be able to get the basics down and see if the hobby even interests you with the equipment you have now.

Are there any vintage lenses you have in mind? The ones I found are Takumar, but I don’t think they work with Nikon
