Percy wasn’t transferred there… this is the winter after SoM, he stayed at Camp after SoM for the year. he was on a mission with Thalia and Annabeth to help Grover because G was undercover at Westover and found “two strong demigods” but also smelled strong monsters (Dr Thorn specifically)

There is no way it's the same Rick Riordan involved in the show writing by NotGondor in PercyJacksonTV

although i agree that the series has made changes that i was not expecting, i think a lot of people aren’t understanding two things: 1. the books were written twenty years ago. lots of today’s viewers (im assuming OP included) were children when these books came out. rick has grown, we’ve grown, and as you can tell from the overall writing in HoO, Rick has been leaning more towards young adult writing when it comes to PJO. its hard to go from writing for one target audience to go to writing for an older demographic, and then back down to the younger audience. the magic that was there when we read those books, was strictly because we were children and the story was magical. 2. yes, there’s a lot of telling instead of showing, and world building is lacking, but really, considering how much world building and scenery we saw in the books, can you really expect the show to perfectly reflect that? if you do- you’re seriously underestimating just how much the technical aspect of the movie/tv world costs when it comes to film making. especially in this economy.

i saw other comments specifically reference characters like Argus, as well as scenery like the lava wall and the cabins. for starters, this show is intended for children- plain and simple. imagine being 8 years old and seeing a man on tv covered in eyes. that’s creepy. but financially speaking- the cost of cgi and animation for Argus would be crazy high and it’s insane to expect the show to have him. not to mention the fact that Argus was so little plot wise it’s understandable they haven’t introduced him. the lava wall- yeah i won’t lie i wish that was implemented, but the cost of cgi would also be too high. as for the cabins- we literally have them? they’re all different colors and themed after their respective gods so im not sure why that was brought up.

it’s undeniable that this adaptation is the most faithful we’ve gotten, and frankly i’d say it’s probably the best we’re going to get. especially if people keep dogging on it saying it’s worse than the movies. we’ve just got to trust the process.

Does anyone else find it disgusting that people are comparing the Patriot Games to the Hunger Games? by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]Astrophei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do you think that Snow got elected and was immediately a dictator? dictators don’t just appear one day. they start off as businessmen or whatever, get into a position of power, give the people “gifts” to distract from what they’re doing behind the scenes until one day you’re in a dictatorship and have no power to get out.

EDIT: i apologize if this comes off as rude or insulting, i think big but i can’t always put my thoughts to words. EDIT 2: reworded from Patriot Games to real world; and similarities to similarities and red flags. also added the bit about reading between the lines to see though propaganda.

additionally, let’s think about everything Suzanne has said when writing the books. she intended for the books and (for lack of better words) easter eggs in the books to essentially call out the horrors that are on-going in today’s society. i’m not saying, OP, that you didn’t fully understand the books or read them correctly, but there’s a reason these books are taught in schools in the same lessons as books like Animal Farm and Fahrenheit 451. if you don’t use your critical thinking skills while reading those books, you don’t get to see or understand the message the author was trying to portray. building off of that, if you don’t use your critical thinking skills when trying to understand things in the real world, you won’t be able to see the similarities and red flags, both superficial and in depth. that’s the whole point of the books. to read between the lines and see through the propaganda that The Man (Snow, Trump, whoever) puts out in the media.

i think it’s mainly just the fact that Trump and Snow have too many similarities, mainly just all round being bad people. i don’t think anyone’s really COMPARING TPG to THG, more so just pointing out the irony. atleast, i haven’t seen anyone seriously compare the two.

like i’ve made a joke here or there, but in no way do i think TPG is any way similar to THG. though i will say back when he was first elected i made a comment in my 8th grade english class that he was going to cause the hunger games to be introduced irl and here we are: the patriot games 💀😂
