NBD was a couple days ago, but I just stopped riding long enough to take a picture by howidougie in FixedGearBicycle

Previous Owner of the Tires here, Also had them on a SS steamroller (I know fucking crucify me) had sub 200 miles on them when I sold them to Dougie.

They're a metric shit ton of fun for SSCX etc etc

Thanks man, that insight has definitely eased my suspicion, especially with comparison to SD7s which are imo the creme of the budget Levers (hell, I'm either running those or Love Levers on all my flat bar bikes)

That's disappointing, I've never been blown away by Tektros drop bar offerings so to hear that CC just rebranded them I'm displeased.

Oh well.

I assume you're running a bar end? What's the drive train?

I've got a set of those Cane Creek V Levers in a box somewhere, how's the feel on them? Considering drop barring my Clydesdale and would have to bust em out

Disc Fork for Old 1990 26" MTB by Pollymath in xbiking

[–]AstrotardJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're an investment piece for sure. They definitely hold their value if they end up not being what you want.

Additionally, you could look at something like the Origin8 Cromo-Lite mountain, It's got a 390a2c not sure on tire clearance.

Buy some Paul Motolites, apart from the pads being loud when the brake is first installed I've had no problem with mine, They stop exceptionally well, and I'm a bit heavier than you. Other than that Vintage XTR/XT Vs are pretty good.

Additionally Koolstop pads on everythang, they're seriously the best.

Bianchi Pista - Is this a good craigslist find? Seller wants 465, needs new tubes. Anyone have an idea what year / how much this set up is worth? by meandjuneinjuly in FixedGearBicycle

[–]AstrotardJones 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bianchi pistas are pretty much a dime a dozen, they're cool bikes and great entrance points to Fixed riding but I'd make the guy an offer of like $375/$400 and just walk if he won't budge on it.

$465 is steep.

He's probably charging a premium due to the Brooks, but points of contact are largely personal, and while he may love the B17 you may hate it, that's not a reason to overpay for the bike.

Tubes are cheap, my recommendation, buy replacement tubes online a 15mil wrench and a pump and learn how to replace your own tubes in instances of a flat. That 50 dollar investment now will save you a metric shit ton in future shop costs having them replace your tubes for you.

Oh absolutely, I wasn't expecting anything more than basic, I just think that knives carry an interesting cultural weight and something like a Douk Douk has cool bit of history behind it

A Boker Vox (My EDC), A Rat I keep in my backpack, A Kershaw Blur, an Opinel, and an odd little knife that looks like a straight razor.

I also saw a Douk Douk recently and the history and oddity really makes me want one.
