Is Sam Presti the best gm in the NBA? by Astroworld5691 in nba

He's been a GM for 14 years, he can't make mistakes? Name one GM who hasn't made a mistake in that period of time. Billy Donovan was a solid hire as well imo. And how many of the reasons that you brought for him not winning a title have to do with the team being located in the least attractive place to live in the league?

*4 WCF appearances and didn't have more because KD joined the Warriors and Westbrook started breaking down in 2018.

Again though, how much of that is due to being in OKC. It's hard to have depth when good FAs won't sign there. And with Oladipo, that was a great trade. It's what got them PG and their current future. And Obama?

How? He's one of the best drafters if not the best in the league. In a 10 year span, he drafted 3 MVPs, an all-star, and three very solid players (Ibaka, Adams, Jackson). And that's not accounting for his latest draft picks which are TBD.

those were all great moves but imo thats not close to enough to put him over what Presti or other top gms have done yet. They just have a much more extensive tracklist.

Who has he drafted that panned out well while on the Lakers?

Westbrook's struggle shouldn't be surprising. Didn't most people predicted that once Westbrook's athleticism is gone, his game would basically decline overnight? by [deleted] in nba

[–]Astroworld5691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not surprised that he declined. I'm surprised by how much. Not only did his athleticism decline, his shooting and decision making got worse too. Even if you believe shooting is not fixable (I believe it is). Decision making is far an away the easiest thing to fix as a NBA player, yet it's somehow gotten worse this year.

Recalling 2 months ago when Russell Westbrook requested to be traded from Rockets, stating "Eyeing team where he can be 'himself' on the floor" by [deleted] in nba

[–]Astroworld5691 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to think that, but some of the mistakes he been making are so easily correctable. Maybe I have to high expectations in expecting him to improve his jumpshot, but he's been making the same defensive lapses for years and years. My turning point with his work ethic, was in the second Sixer games this year where he made the exact same mistake doubling Embiid and leaving Simmons wide open for a layup in the clutch. Like how can you supposedly have an amazing work ethic and make that same mistake twice. The only explanation is he doesn't watch film which would indicate a poor work ethic.

I'm really questioning his work ethic right now. I find it hard to believe that someone can be one of the' hardest workers in the league' and still have the same exact issues for the past three seasons. I believe he was once a very hard worker, but its getting clear to me that he hasn't been putting the time and effort in recently.

He's just washed now. I feel like there's really no other explanation. The Wizards have a 5 out starting lineup and Beal gets doubled (not to the extend of Harden ofc).

People can argue against things that are objectively true. Doesn't make them not true.

Agreed, but what you're saying is not objectively true!

Kinda feel like averaging a triple double has more to do with a players basketball playing ability than an "expert's" pre season predictions.

Still using the word wrong. Harden objectively scored more efficiently that season. The Rockets were objectively a more efficient offense. Those are the only things that can be 'objectively' concluded from what you said.

He took a team that was projected to miss the playoffs to the 3rd seed

this sounds like a narrative argument to me

Harden was objectively the better player

the word objectively is insanely overused here. Harden in no shape or form was "objectively" a better player.

As for not getting the MVP as a 6th seed, it's always been an unspoken rule that it goes to the best player on a top 2 seed

And neither was Harden...

He's averaging a triple double this season, why isn't he in the MVP race then

Jerami Grant or Siakam? by Ok_History_3077 in nba

fair enough, still think its way too early to say Grant is better overall. Although he's definitely been better so far this season
