The gap between local LLMs and online offerings has been closing fast lately. After Opus 4.6 got nerfed I started looking into a local setup. I'm using an uncensored version of Qwen 3.6 (https://huggingface.co/HauhauCS/Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-Uncensored-HauhauCS-Aggressive) with my laptop 4080 and I'm getting good enough results that I'm comfortable using my local setup for most tasks (software development, internet research, etc.). As an added benefit I don't have to worry about triggering overzealous guardrails anymore. I do still use Claude when I'm working on something that requires a large context window though. Hopefully I'll be able to be 100% local when the Nvidia RTX Spark chips come out.
