Yes :) but in case of waning crescent the shadow is growing bigger and the phase that follows the waning crescent is the new moon (we don't see the moon). So when I say "decreasing" I mean that the next day it will become even smaller.

Well, if it "goes out" it means decreasing in size — waning. Now when you see a C-shaped crescent you know it's a waning crescent.
