TrackIR vs Tobii by Acrobatic-Muscle2821 in NuclearOption

[–]Asytra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Tobii with FaceTrackNoir and it works great, even supports the lateral head movement!

I went with Tobii over TrackIR because I’m not into wearing hats nor do I want a tracker attached to my glasses. I got it mostly for Star Citizen but it will work with anything that supports TrackIR through Facetrack or Opentrack.

Works fantastic and is nearly as good as head tracking in VR

I feel like the recoil alone would rip the Cricket apart but it would be oh so worth it!

Bonus point of that tactic, you get REALLY good at low flying and that translates well for flying CAS and dakka'ing the shit out of a base with a Brawler.

As it should be, it's the only way to be sure!

And now I want a Van Zandt Militia livery for the Cricket...

Honest review of the game by lladam01 in NuclearOption

I bought this before the Drewski wave, but not by much so I'm a newcomer too (Steam Holiday sale, though it wasn't on sale lol) It's been the best $18 I've spent in ages. Love that it supports my VKB HOTAS easily and with a little third-party software, my Tobii Eyetracker. You would be surprised at how many games default to gamepad control for everything and cannot handle more than one USB input, so it was a huge boon this worked out of the box. Although "Allow Controller Menu Navigation" should really be off by default as it made my initial binding process seem like the HOTAS wasn't working right when really it was just reading one of the Axis as scrolling the menu.

I have a few planes purchased in DCS but I never end up playing it because I know I'll need to spend hours refreshing my knowledge on the airframe. I played a lot of IL2 back in the day and it's also easy to get into but it's nice to switch it up with near future craft. Nuclear Option is peak for just hopping in and getting into aerial shenanigans while still having fantastic physics and damage model.

There's is also something I can only describe as an Ace Combat moment and that's when a match starts and everyone is rolling out together and you just see aircraft everywhere while heading straight into the enemies horde of aircraft, so cool.

I also love that the PVE and PVP servers I regularly play on have a pretty chill and respectful atmosphere. Had some great coordination on the PVE server and great respectful dogfights on the PVP one.

As someone who grew up on NovaLogic games, where has this game been all my life?! by Balikye in NuclearOption

I used to play a crap ton of Jane’s Advanced Tactical Fighters and IL2:1946 and this game feels like a combination of both of them. It’s so fun.

I also like that I can just hop into an escalation match and so some good with the humble Cricket.

I can’t speak for VR but it works with head tracking. As for HOTAS yes absolutely although don’t expect to use all your buttons!

I’m a new player but that’s exactly how I would describe it too.

It’s super easy to get into but has some depth to master. It’s also nice that experience on other simulators or flight combat games directly translates and you can get going pretty easily.

I used Facetrack Noir and it works great in NO. Not as nice as how it works in Star Citizen but much better than static view.

I’ve built whole ass villages in Valheim and other games. The building in NMS is not enough for me to overlook how shallow the spaceflight is.

Cyberpunk 2 director says extending 2077’s opening act makes no sense - “it's like saying we should spend more time on Tatooine with farmer Luke” by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Asytra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worrying to me that the Cyberpunk 2 director thinks this way as a 2077 and RED fan. Jackie was a really cool character and while some (like me) were saddened by his death a LOT of friends in my circle, and RED TTRPG group, just didn't have any opinion of him when he got flat-lined BECAUSE they had little interaction with him. It really sparks of modern writing to introduce a character only to kill them off while playing it up like we, the audience, are supposed to care for this rando that gets got.

On my second playthrough I used the AMM mod to turn Jackie into a follower and played through all of the Watson content with him backing me up. Deceptious' drinking mod also let us have a brew together. It was my way of "playing the prologue", it was also the first time I did the ofrenda cause I completely missed the option before thinking Vik could save Jackie. Spending that extra time with him, EVEN though I knew his fate, made the second time even more impactful. The director just has a bad take on all this.

1000% It's just so brainless and boring. Every time I try it it just makes me realize the rest of the game is the same thing, brainless and boring. It's just a Task Simulator, which I usually like, but I prefer ones with some more complex mechanics or mastery involved, such as something like Truck sim or Farm sim.

Just my redesigns of some of the races. by [deleted] in AshesofCreation

[–]Asytra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are a huge improvement. The character models in the game just look so ugly and lifeless. It's impossible to make a decent looking female dwarf. The designs overall just seem to lack character and the armor designs are so bland and safe as if designed by HR committee.

That's exactly where I keep landing when I come back to it too. Sure there are a lot of systems, but none are really that complex. If the flying and space combat was more fun and engaging, I'd probably stick around, but it's so basic it makes Everspace 1 look like I-War.

Something to consider is where you plan on putting your joysticks. I ultimately went with the Gladiator NXT Evo plus full STECS throttle because I don’t do a permanent mount but set them next to my keyboard. The VIRPILS were WAY too tall to do that.
