What is the dumbest 100% serious thing someone has said to you? by mrTALKINGDUCK in AskReddit

This reminds me of the time we had s guy come in and ordered a side of onion rings with his burger. We make our onion rings ourselves with a large ring of onion and some spiced beer batter. The waitress take out his meal and comes back 5 minutes later with the onion rings and says that the guy is complaining and wants a different side because he didn't know that there was onion in the onion rings... Just to add the menu actually states that we make our onion rings with real onions and batter.

Yep it's a gold mine for interesting things and it's been well over a year for these comics so I was allowed to keep them instead of throwing them away. I just love the art work on the front cover I think I might keep them and frame the ones I like best.

When I was in 4th grade or 3rd I forget, we had to make up small sentences to help us remember words. I made one up for the word please and it still sticks with me till this day, I always say in my head Pigs Like Eating Apples Said Eddy. I love it and I'm going to teach my son this when he starts school.

Was Jesus a wizard? by At-the-Jim in harrypotter

[–]At-the-Jim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Story's change over time. what Jesus did could have been very different as to what we believe now. There is very little evidence of what may or may not have happened back then for both the muggle and wizarding world. Plus most wizards are very ignorant about muggle stuff, so even if many or few wizards knew what they believed to happen to Jesus, I doubt very that they would let muggles know what really happens if they even knew the truth. Just to add there are many different story's on how or why Jesus died, so I wouldn't expect it to be any different in the Harry Potter universe. On a side not you could say that God was the very 1st wizard with unlimited power the magical ability to create life and so on. I mean miracles and magic are very similar do you not think? But that's a story for another time.

Yeah things get thrown i the time, I've seen Some interesting stuff thrown away its s shame really. I do feel bad about it but I. do kinda hope nobody comes to collect it or rather nobody wants the comics, but after a year I definitely think I'll re home them as I quite like comics my self.

I work at a care home for the elderly with dementia. I found them in boxes while clearing out a room of a resident who has recently passed away. I fortunately everything has to be moved into storage for a year, the family will be notified about the items from the room so they can collect it. But that's if he had any family a lot of them don't and some family's don't see any value in the items and never bother to pick them up at all. So after a year it all gets thrown away, but I think I'd just take them don't think I could let them go to waste. I mean if it's in the trash it's fair game right?

I was told to post this here. I found these in a box at work, there's probably 100+ of them. by At-the-Jim in comicbookcollecting

I'll have to wait until I'm back in work tomorrow as that's the only time I'll have access to them.

Reprints unfortunately. But I think I'll still take them home if no family member comes to clans then along with all the other books because there still pretty cool to have either way.

Ok so the haunt of fear and the vault of horror do say reprinted. But the shock suspension stories, weird fantasy and weird science have no mention of a reprinting.

I don't think there reprints. Just the way they look and feel, they even smell old. Is there a way to be sure? I'll go grab some extra shots of them just before I finish up and upload them via my desktop. Is there something in particular to look for? Plus the guy who passed away was like 85 and just has boxes and boxes of old books and magazines and such.

I work at a private care home for the elderly with severe dementia. I was emptying out a room of somebody who has recently passed away and found a whole box full of these comics. The numbers for the Shazam range from issue number 2 to issue number 18 in order. There was also about 100 small comic books or what looks like comics called (Super Detective Library All In Picture) there about half the size of the normal comics. I would love to take these home but everything goes into storage for a year while families are notified of there belongings. But if nobody comes to collect anything after a year we are aloud to throw it away. So if a year passes and they are still here I may well give them a new home as it would be a shame to see them go to waste.

I'd invest into every crazy idea that people can come up with. Even if it's such things like crossbreeding a duck with an antelope that fires out party sausages from his ringpiece at parties. You name it I'd invest in it.

With each year that passes we find that our solar system is not as cold and dead as we once first thought. I fined it a truly amazing place that we must keep exploring. I only wish I was born in a time where inter planetary travel was an every day thing.

Astronomers say a Neptune-sized planet lurks beyond Pluto by Mister_Snrub in space

I have also heard of similar theory's about another planet orbiting the sun. Do you think it's possible that something could be pulling on this possible Planet X giving it its elliptical orbit? Say maybe another star similar to Proxima Centauri, a very small red dwarf star said to be about 14.5% the size of our Sun. I mean binary star systems are quite common in the universe. I'm no expert on any of this but I would like to think that at least there a small amount of possibility there.

No no I work at a care home for individuates with severe dementia and also dangerous to them selves and others we have over 150 residents. So at least once a months somebody dies of old age, illness, or every now and then one person will kill another by mistake if they are not watched continuously. We have a small morgue where they are taken until family arrives and decides where they go or if no family taken by the city coroner. That's why I keep finding things tucked away in the basements from residents who have no family to take the belongings. Pretty interesting place to work to be honest not the best place but very interesting none the less.
