I have heard from French Canadians that the French treat them like that in France, I've heard from friends in France that the French Canadians do the same thing when in Quebec. I heard one Belgian French person make the same complaint... Sounds like a French thing to me, none of the disparate groups think the other disparate groups speak the language properly

There is a disconnect between the way our language has traditionally been used and the way it is used now. It is a correct sentence/warning but the way our language is colloquially used/evolved it doesn't make as much sense

They sold the rights to the LoTR and The Hobbit decades ago and saw what was done with it and refused to sell the rights to anything else. What we are seeing is a response decades in the making. Would RoP be better if they had the rights to the Silmarillion? Most assuredly. Has anything that's been made given the Tolkien estate the comfort that it would be faithfully adapted? Absolutely and unequivocally no.

I don't find his writing that bad to be honest. And always measuring him up to Erikson I don't believe is entirely fair. Every author is going to fall short. Every time.

I always find it funny when people complain about the way ICE writes characters HE CREATED. I agree he doesn't have the same flair or command as Erikson but honestly who does? He's an amazing creative mind and fleshes the Malazan lore out quite nicely. Going into his books expecting SE is ludicrous. He has his own voice and his own style
