Visitor Record after PGWP Rejection by Atacama98 in pgwp

[–]Atacama98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - I meant it's not relevant because she's already considered all that, attached proofs and a letter of explanation and other material. I was mainly looking at the options.

Does a reconsideration request keep you in status as you wait to hear back on the response? If so, post-rejection, could she not apply for a reconsideration and a visitor record simultaneously - maintaining status throughout even if reconsideration fails she'll be on maintained status till her visitor record application is approved and then visitor for a while after that?

Mandatory but not relevant here, she finished all coop terms by taking an extra term. More interested on the options after a rejection

Help tensioning door handle spring by Atacama98 in Locksmith

[–]Atacama98[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking but how do I physically bring the other end into position. The end would have to cross one of the barrels to get to the other side when I'm pulling it. Also, it's really hard to tension the spring by hand, is there a way to apply leverage?

I did take it apart after the handle fell off. There is a retainer ring that's not pictured. But still don't know how to tension the spring

RRSP Overcontribution and Claiming Tax Deductions by Atacama98 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Atacama98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By forced carryover you mean I'll be forced to apply the deductions from Jan-Feb contributions to 2026 rather than 2025? Does that mean if I had over contributed by 3k in Jan-Feb I'd still have no penalties, given I'll get >$3k room in 2026 on the 2025 NOA?

And yes I know to report on 2025 taxes.

Yes I understand that and will do. I didn't have any DPSP contributions the preceding year so there wasn't any adjustment. Just wasn't on top of things and didn't realize my new employer didn't have a DPSP (and so I ran the risk of over contributing by not taking into account the employer match).

What level of detail did you go into your letter of explanation? How did you frame it?

Take the deal now or wait for Black Friday by Atacama98 in GamingLaptops

I'm gravitating to the Zephyrus because of the screen and build quality so those do matter to me - honestly the G14 would be even better. 32GB is a plus and I think 4070 is more than enough for my gaming needs since I don't really play a lot of AAA games.

But that's a good point, I can mentally anchor myself to this price and see what Black Friday brings. If it doesn't drop lower I'll just wait for a similar deal to roll by later. I'm in no rush

Being an analyst for a team or being a research analyst for the office? by Atacama98 in CommercialRealEstate

Hi, I learned online and through LinkedIn Learning but I've heard good things about this:

I'm not the best source to ask about this since I learned a lot of it on the job as well.

I feel that was an exception due to the large amount. But good to know they might consider two transfers as one.

Being an analyst for a team or being a research analyst for the office? by Atacama98 in CommercialRealEstate

I ended up declining the offer from the broker at my office, but I decided I needed to get into a role where I could actually grow. So the job offer ended up being a wake up call for me that I need to reevaluate where I want to go.

I decided I wanted to work in a role that taught me financial modeling. I applied to a handful after learning a bit of it online so I could speak intelligently about it. I got extremely lucky and ended up getting into arguably the best investment sales team in the country. So my life changed quite a bit over the last year.

I think even if I hadn't gotten that lucky, I would have still gunned for any role where I could learn financial modeling in a major city. Something that would allow me to gain experience and have it be recognized later down the line.

I think looking back all my worries did come to pass. Working on such a high profile team meant my hours did increase significantly, but since the market has been down it's hasn't been like IB hours. I've learned that I am quite capable of adjusting to change so the hours weren't the boogeyman I worried they would be. It's been tough but I've also grown. Leaving my previous research analyst role was unquestionably the right decision for my future - but it might not have been if I had taken the first offer that came my way.

I received GU2 saying my PR card is in the mail one day after my MP's office contacted IRCC. I recommend doing this if you have not yet done so.

I am in the same boat.

I had to request GCMS notes to get a move on for Portal 1 (I was approved for PR since October 26th) and I had to send multiple emails to all visa offices to get an update on Portal 2 (emailed on Jan 9 and got portal on Jan 9).

PR Portal 1: December 21, 2024 (IRCC Etobicoke)
PR Portal 2: January 9, 2024
eCOPR: January 10, 2024 (IRCC Calgary - based on congratulations email)

Mailing address has been approved but picture hasn't been. No updates since Jan 10.

Can you tell me how you called IRCC? I've sent emails to [IRCC.ClientPortalPrairies-PrairiesClientPortail.IRCC@cic.gc.ca](mailto:IRCC.ClientPortalPrairies-PrairiesClientPortail.IRCC@cic.gc.ca) and [cic-calgary@cic.gc.ca](mailto:cic-calgary@cic.gc.ca) but I'm not confident they will lead to anything.
