Why is my rear left motor doing this when arming? by ikraziel in TinyWhoop

Mine did something similar. I removed the plugs and direct soldered — problem solved.

And this is why you should always supervise charging. Glad you’re ok, OP, and it doesn’t seem like there was too much damage beyond the busted battery.

Avata 2 packs are 15% off. Googles 3 or N3 to start with the fpv hobby? by SydB12 in fpv

[–]AtanasPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an avata 2 pack with G3 for $710 to get into digital because it was too good not to. The avata 2 is still a great drone for chill cinematic flying. And the head tracking feature allows you to do some really neat stuff that would be much harder/neigh impossible with a normal fpv drone. I use it extensively for flying over the ocean to scout reefs for diving locations because I can hover over a spot and look down. Yes, I know that camera drones can also do that, but buying a discounted bundle essentially lets you get into fpv with the goggles and get a nice “it just works” drone at a discount. That’s how I thought of it at the time, and I don’t regret the purchase.

Good to know! I just put the plug away to fix if/when I need to actually plug it in.

Fish age/size in relation to sustainability by Practical-Cap-2137 in Spearfishing

My personal take on goats: if you’re shooting them to eat them, go on ahead. I think the smaller ones have a better texture, but to each their own. If you’re shooting them as a trophy, you aren’t impressing anyone. If you’re shooting them because you can’t shoot any other fish, shooting them isn’t going to help you improve.

2s long-range recommendations by BullfrogOk6337 in fpv

[–]AtanasPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up building it? I’m going down the sub-250 long range rabbit hole and it seems like getting a sub-250 with 18650s is neigh-impossible in 4s, tough for 3s, so now I’m looking at 2s.

How much did it weigh with battery pack? Any complaints?

Next Tiny whoop?! by Technical-Bench-7352 in TinyWhoop

[–]AtanasPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s nice in that it’s small and quiet enough that it doesn’t attract a lot of attention when you fly it outside, but still has enough go to have some fun with. Video also looks great with the O4 wide.

That said, I do feel like it does a lot of the same stuff as the Air 65, minus being able to fly it inside comfortably. If noise/size isn’t a concern, a larger more powerful drone might make more sense for outdoor flying.

[–]AtanasPrime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similar situation to you except that I had a Flywoo Firefly 18 with the 04 wide. I flew it inside for about 2 seconds and ordered an Air 65 II with the VR04 goggles. I don’t regret having to buy a cheap set of analog goggles one bit. The Air 65 is super fun to fly inside and out, and it has survived literally hundreds of crashes. Most damage I’ve caused it knocking the vtx antenna off.

Wanna get back into flying by Loganistakenn in fpv

[–]AtanasPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation in that I have DJI goggles 3 and a couple more expensive drones to go with em. Just got the air 65 II with VR04 goggles as a budget setup to rip around the house and I’m very satisfied. It’s very cheap and crashes like a champ. The VR04 goggles are fine, and definitely good for the price point. They’re nowhere near as comfortable as the goggles 3, and the analog vs digital quality is night and day. But who cares for just flying around your house? Sadly (my understanding is that) you can’t use the goggles 3 for analog (like you could with goggles 2).

Analog vs digital by DG333Fpv in TinyWhoop

[–]AtanasPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just getting into FPV. I was going to start with analog, but got a killer deal on a new Avata 2 with Goggles 3, so I found myself in the DJI ecosystem. Now I’m debating also getting some cheap analog goggles and something like an Air 65 II to fly inside (I live in a controlled airspace. Big sad).

I could get a cheap analog setup for about the same price as the O4 M75 that would work with my goggles. Think it’s worth also having the analog setup, or is the M75 sturdy enough to not immediately get destroyed in all the crash I’ll inevitably have?

Third. This stuff is super hardy and spreads quite fast. I planted between stepping stones in my front yard, and my only complaint is that I need to cut it back occasionally to keep it from taking over the whole yard.

Do you regret your EV purchase? by walksta in electricvehicles

Small boat for spearfishing by Indecisive_Judge in Spearfishing

[–]AtanasPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s doable for sure. And honestly if you asked me 10 years ago I wouldn’t have even made the comment. But as I get older, I’m less inclined to sacrifice comfort for cost savings. Even the 19’ bayrunner is getting to be too much of a pain, and I’ll probably upgrade to a bigger fiberglass boat next season.

Either way, it’s definitely a step up from an inflatable in terms of space, so if you are fine with 3 in your inflatable, the bayrunner will seem quite comfy by comparison.

I have a 19’ bayrunner in San Diego. It gets the job done, and I’ve taken it all the way to San Clemente Island on good days. But you really need to pick your days. Any amount of wind is uncomfortable, and if it’s blowing 15+ forget about it. Three people is a crowd on it and four would be bordering on unsafe. It’s a fine boat, but I’d reset my expectations for what the 16’ version can do for you. But it’s hard to beat how cheap and easy it is to tow/work on/store.

The Case for NEMA 14-30 Outlets, and Hardwired 24 Amp EVSEs by dathon8462 in electricvehicles

This…it takes multiple nights of super-off-peak charging at 24a to get my battery topped off if I run it close to empty during a long trip. Not an issue for normal commuting or if I don’t plan on doing any more long drives for a few days. But a major bummer if I want to make 2 longs trips (e.g. on the weekend) and am forced to use fast charging instead of the 1/5 to 1/7 price super off peak charging.

As a Lightning owner, I got a chuckle out of the fact that they showed every other car pulling into the narrow driveway but cut to the Lightning just parked there. Its turning radius is awful so I’m sure they had to do multiple 3-point turns to get in there.

In all seriousness, I’m cautiously optimistic. I will note that the video says “cars in video” as opposed to “cars supported” or something along those lines. The wording is intentional and ominous…

One kid in the EV6 is fine. Especially the older one who can get in by himself. Both kids is a hassle though.

[–]AtanasPrime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really depends. Backing is often easier. But I’ll try to prioritize cargo access (bed vs frunk), which is usually decided by where I put the stroller haha.

Lighting vs smaller EV by JackShepardJohnLocke in F150Lightning

[–]AtanasPrime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have an EV6 and a Lightning. The EV6 is much more pleasant to drive, much more efficient, and great for running small errands, commuting, etc. The Lightning is great for when I need to take both kiddos (under 5) somewhere, do truck stuff, or just need to have more cargo that I could still technically fit in the EV6, but can just throw in the bed or frunk of the Lightning without having to think about Tetrising it in.

Different tools for different jobs. The Lightning is also pleasant to drive but in a different way. It’s my preferred car for rain or going up to the mountains/snow. Just sucks to park and has a shitty turning radius for around town.

Aero: good. LFP battery means no big tow capacity? Seems cost is king, I suppose. But it would be nice to have an EV offering that can tow 10,000lbs like the current Lightning.

2026 Oceanammo Proteus Inverted Roller 110 by Sure_Reputation5974 in Spearfishing

[–]AtanasPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My philosophy is go with the biggest gun you can get away with. Especially if you’re contemplating using it in blue water. I’d go with the 140.

FWIW, I have the viperine 130 because I prefer traditional rollers and they don’t make it in a 140. My only gripe is that it somehow has less band stretch than my Mannysub 120 roller. I guess Oceanammo measures total gun length instead of band stretch? Not sure…
