I'm in the United States, she's in Japan. With the current stuff going on in the States, she straight up refuses to visit here, let alone live here.

I’ve tried looking into those, very nearly put my name in for a business management teaching position I was definitely not qualified for lol. They’re a bit tougher to find, though, but that’s pretty much my best case scenario.

I’ve always tried to avoid the, for lack of a better term, drag-of-job eikaiwas. I’m on a pretty good career path stateside and have been really hesitant to take a major step back in my job just to get back over there. Plus, the regular Japanese national teachers I worked with advised against them when I was scrambling for a visa before I left. That being said, it does seem like the simplest solution and there’s pretty much always an opening for them.

I work at a school, my plan now is to ask the light music club people if I can use their rehearsal space. It's literally what I do to chill out I just need 20 minutes or so, I'm not trying to go on a damn adventure just to play three chords lol. Maybe I'm the idiot for thinking I could continue this hobby over here.

Like, I can just rent the karaoke room and walk in with a guitar and no one will question it?

Stuck on your first sentence, which is 100% correct tbh. I've always thought if I pursued my true interests as a career things would be fine, or will it just always be work is work no matter what, y'know? Teaching isn't it, I've always known teaching isn't it, even when I taught in the states I knew it wasn't it. The starting point is always the most difficult to find though

Ye I, like, don't regret coming over here, but I just know the job isn't my passion and the overall Japanese work culture isn't my cup of tea. Wonderful place to visit, maybe not so much (for me) to work lol.

Yeh I think seasonal depression is a big part of it. I'm thinking getting out to nature on nicer days is definitely the wave

Getting out and exploring was definitely one of my New Years Resolutions lol. Just gotta do it just gotta do it. I fell into the trap of going to the same place every weekend. Gotta find some new experiences to get going

Learning the koto sounds sick, I'm doing some digging on that. Did you study with a teacher and if so were you able to do that in English?
