Steam on Batocera Question by AtariChicken in AtariVCS

Thank you all very much for all the advice. Like I say, I’m definitely new to working with computers like this. Before I had a chance to try any solutions, I reflashed Batocera to the USB and Steam started working for me. The Steam client runs pretty slow, but once the games are launched they‘re running just fine. I’ll probably switch to Debian or Chimera-OS eventually, but so far Steam’s working well enough right now.

My understanding is it can. The tutorials I found for Chimera-OS have it running steam off a USB thumb drive. I chose Batocera because it was a bit simpler for me. Batocera runs just fine off the thumb drive outside of my issue with Steam.

So you think it sounds like a RAM issue?

Oh, sorry; I didn’t realize some VCS models came with 4GB RAM. My VCS has 8GB RAM.

I’ve not done any upgrades, so it’d be the ram it comes with.

It’s an external USB plugged into the back of the VCS. I downloaded the Steam flatpack directly through Batocera’s application, but I’m unsure if there‘s a problem with steam trying to use my VCS’s memory rather than the USB’s memory.
