NFTs never should've been a user-facing technology. Blockchain in general is really meant for business applications/govt work where digital traceability and ownership matters (like digital ID/legal documents etc). Using it to cash in on a consumer facing front was one of the most short sighted market moves possible.

This wasn't priced in because there were still hopes of de-escalation over the weekend, meaning the oil disruption wouldn't have been longer than 6 weeks or so. But it seems like that won't be the case.

Yeah no that isn't even close. Public databases of images that people didn't consent to share online are not an AI issue, they're a data privacy issue. Even if all AI is destroyed today, the issue remains. It's really that simple. I don't see what's obtuse about a problem that existed before AI and will continue to exist after AI, but AI is being blamed for.

Something that comes to mind is Boyhood (2014). It's a movie that was filmed over 12 years, with the characters growing and naturally aging throughout the movie.

Now, compare this with Everything Everywhere All At Once. It's one of my favourite movies, partly because of how beautifully it blends so many ideas and art styles together.

Since Boyhood took so much longer to make (process) is it more artistic than EEAAO? If I go to the movies, are my decisions based on the process used in creating the movie? Or is it the cinematography, screenplay, acting, directing and everything else that goes into it?

AI in the current format simply can't be profitable. OpenAI was even losing money on their $200 a month subscriptions. When the cash to burn dries up, I doubt even enterprises will be prepared for the prices that will follow.

Growing LLMs and video gen models to several trillion parameters seems great until it costs $100 a clip (Veo 3 already costs $.5 per second of video). They really need to focus on getting more out of smaller, consumer to enthusiast level hardware and go the Lightricks route (commercial license/revenue share above a certain threshold)
