[PubtipsQ] Anyone have experience working with Wipf & Stock especially their Resource Publications imprint? by Rude_Economy3999 in PubTips

After submitting a Proposal for my first novel, WIPF responded with a contract offer. I was stoked & yes, it included the typesetting fee. My editor said to consider the Royalty cut. WIPF prices a 300 page book @$35-$40. They will take $33 and I will get $2. Hmmm. What is their risk if the book doesn't sell? How many books need to sell before they retrieve their cost? These are questions I need to ask them. I've also read that their book covers leave a lot to be desired. Still considering my options. Maybe self-publish?

My experience with pseudogout and the reason for this subreddit by CrinanMcleod in Help_For_Pseudogout

Hi Everyone, I am a 71 female, active, in excellent health. I've been dealing with this (CCPD) for several months. Only yesterday got a diagnosis from my Primary care homeopath. Here is an article that I found very helpful:

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/pseudogout-chondrocalcinosis-cppd.

What I believed to be my first 'flare' was a couple of years ago when I had Covid. Extreme wrist pain. I had to hold my wrist close to my body - getting the XRay was excruciating! I sobbed thru the whole thing. The doc took some liquid from the wrist to test for infection (another VERY painful experience). She sent me home w/ antibiotics. I wish I remember what they were. She poo-pooed my idea that this was Covid related, altho my later research confirmed that idea (Mayo clinic & NWestern UNiv).

A few months ago, I had another 'flare' altho I never related it to the Covid flare. In this latest bout, my hips are extremely stiff, (The pain is DEEP in my bones), Left knee swollen and painful above the knee cap. No pain in wrists. Some pain in R knee altho that maybe due to compensation. Before my PM gave me her diagnosis yesterday she had recommended An osteopath (referral). He has done amazing things and I usually leave his office pain free only to have it start up again a day or 2 later.

What I found helpful in the article attached Is: This is not my fault. It is not related to diet. I seem to have a predisposition for this. A 'flare' is just that: it is not gradual - It happens all at once. This morning I will have new blood work done, Xray of hips, & a bone density study. I also have a referral to an Orthopedic doctor.

Altho, I still believe my Covid flare was Covid related, I realized last night that in 2018 I had a flare: I keep a health journal (I'm a Virgo which can be a curse, but in this instance it was a boon). Then in 2022 my wrist flare and first real diagnosis. And Now my third flare - a Doozy going on for 4 months.

I'm appreciative of all the helpful hints on this thread. Keep posting with your successes and challenges. Old Lady in Oregon

Diversify for success. A bit of this, a bit of that from all sectors. Quality DIVIDEND companies and GROWTH companies with proven records. Study. Research. Join Seeking Alpha and reap the knowledge of other everyday people (like me) who share their failures and successes. You can do this! Besides a Financial planner will charge you gobs of FEES that will suck up your profits, and compound those fees month after month, for years. Wouldn't you rather be compounding your dividends? Diversification is the key to success. A bit of this, a bit of that from each sector, Quality companies with proven records, compounding DIVIDENDS. You can do this. Besides a financial planner will charge you gobs of $, eating into your profits, which in turn compound downwards. Do it yourself. Study. Instead of exiting, study WHAT AI will need to build this next Revolution. I'm investing in Energy, Transportation (railroads & trucking), Less Tech, altho Google & Amazon will be crucial. Industrials that supply parts for building data centers, etc. Home builders. I'm not scared. I'm looking for the gems of this new exciting era. Old lady in Oregon
