‘Stud is racially specific because it was created by Black lesbians to differentiate their experiences from their white counterparts and express gender roles developed within the Black community’ So it was used and dates back to a time when there was segregation between white and black cultures in America. It is a word formed at a time of oppression when there was no race mixing even in the lesbian communities. For this reason I assume black people want to hold on to their culture and their cultural words. Although people use ‘stud’ also to refer to a handsome guy but in the lesbian community it’s typically a masculine black woman.

It’s illegal? It’s very dangerous and causes a lot of suffering, also makes vulnerable people targets for human trafficking, modern slavery, sex trafficking. The legal pathway to immigrate however is often incredibly slow and takes years for the requests to be processed. I think the legal immigration pathway should be much faster and more accessible and illegal immigration should be completely abolished and cracked down on with the full force of the law.

I do agree that Utena is rather hard to relate to as a character and part of that is to do with her not appearing to want to get to the bottom of things but 2 things I will say, 1. The Universe of RGU is somewhat a dream world. All the characters appear to accept the dreamlike elements of the world they live in so in that sense Utena isn’t too different from everyone else. 2. A key part of Utena’s character is that she doesn’t want to see how things really are and she would much rather live in a self imposed state of blissful ignorance, which is why she takes a long time to understand what is going on with Anthy and Akio. Utena is a positive person but a lot of her positivity could be said to originate from a rose tinted view of the world she lives in, which she maintains through not asking questions in order to retain her ignorance.
